well, here it is, as requested by Rctrucktrialer, Project money pit. A one of a kind truck that im custom building.

The specs:

33.5 inches long
13 inches wide
about 15 inches tall
dual 750 bruiser motors
a 12 volt, 7 Ah Hobbico torqmaster battery
Completely hand made (besides shocks, gears, tires, and electronics)
Tube framed with a ladder chassis
Prerunner style body
21.5 inch wheel base
custom 2.2" beadlock wheels
4 linked front and rear

Its gonna basically look like a bruiser on steriods and it WILL be torquey.
So, enough with the text, its time for a starter pic.

that sounds awesome, shoot if its big enough ou could put a 12v gel cell in the bed for extra long and high power run times!!

That hobbico Torqmaster battery i listed, is a 12 volt gel cell. Its capacity is rated at 7000 mAh!

Some updates. I just finished the main ladder frame besides the small mounting hardware. I set it up just to see what it looks like and it resembles a bruiser. I definately wanna get it finished.

all them big steel tube sections - are those gonna become rims? I could be wrong but I think that would be the first steel 2.2" rims I've ever seen....

Yes, those steel tubes are gonna become steel beadlock rims. Heavy duty stuff for a heavy duty truck.

Thanks for all the input guys, all this support makes me wanna just keep going and never stop. When im done, i will put up a parts list and a price list just to show you what it takes to build one.

I do beleive you are going to need some heavier shocks. That thing looks to be quite weighty.

dude that things gonna weigh alot, your gonna needs some big heavy duty shocks with some heavy duty springs, and youll hav eto double up on those,

that thing is gonna be awesome, after you post your list and everything im gonna build one of my own, dude that thing is way big so you could easily double up on that gell cell, now that would produce some power!! 2 gell cells give you extra extra long run time, and a much more wieghty and scale appeareance, your probably gonna need to use bigger wheels and tires, that thing is gonna be awesome, i can wait till its done

I seem to have run into a problem. I need 4-40 threaded rod for the traxxas ballends but no one has them, this could be a big problemm.

no updates yet. im definately going to get heavier springs even though it is surprisingly light.

its gonna start getting heavier real fast man, especially when you add that battery,

Your gonna need serious power to turn those suckers over at any speed. Lipo?
Looks good. whats with the half-shafts cut down?

Those half shafts will be extended with steel tube and will become driveshafts.
For steering i bought a hitec HS-805bb mega quarter scale servo.

Good news: I just went to a new hardware store and got 4-40x1 bolts so i can cut the head off of them, thread them into aluminum rods, and add the ball ends to create my links. Ill try and finish the links tonight.

That gigantic truck on rod ends with 4-40 studs!? Did I read that wrong?

Draco

No, you didnt read that wrong, I am using 4-40 threaded ball ends on this beast. I will be using them until i can locate a full set of larger ones (need about 20 ballends). No progress yet but I will start working on my links as soon as i locate my hacksaw.

I do have a lot of ambission to finish this because im a procrastinator and never seem to finish anything and I want to build something that is unique, and big. (some of this project is getting funded by selling my small 1/10 rc cars and trucks that i dont use, there just too small now)

Bryce

Sounds good. LST shocks are a must..

crawler
12-25-2005, 12:36 PM
what are you selling?

Draco
12-25-2005, 02:31 PM
Im selling my 3 rustlers (2 parts cars, 1 complete roller) My 4tec/trx-4, and whatever else i can find that i dont use.

Im not going with LST shocks just because i dont think they would look right on a truck like this, thats why i went with dual shocks all around.

Good news, I just got 4 of the links and 2 mounting brackets done and a whole bunch of metal pieces. Now i just have to make another 4 links and 2 brackets. Once im done with the links and suspension, im gonna start and hopefully finish my beadlocks since i now have everything i need for them. I would have had an update earlier but my tap broke and disabled me from making much of anything.

Now for the picture.
