How would you add panel lines to an existing custom styrene body? Any suggestions welcome! These are for my Commander build.

Try a small scribe (sp?) like a small xacto blade with teeth, a few passes and youll have a clean body line.

You can buy a small scribe for exactly that it cuts a 1mm line,i'm at work at the moment when i get home i will get the name and price for you.

Thanks guys! Boy this seems like a very, very difficult procedure, more in this body which as NO panel lines whatsoever....The hardest thing would be to hold the ruler securely, IMO. I practiced in a scrap piece of plastic and did good but not perfect as i want! LOL!! Thanks for that link man!

I also experimented drawing the line in such a way looks realistic too.

Try using masking tape as a guide. This will help you go over curves as well. Worked better this way then using a ruler.

edit: The key is to take your time and do several passes with lite pressure.

make a guide.. if you need to scribe in say a door line take some very thin styrene and cut out the panel then tape it in place.. now just slowly walk the scribe around the panel.. masking tape works to as suggested but it is easier to slip.. the thin styrene will contour pretty well unlike a ruler..

you can take an old x-acto #11 blade and shape the end with your dremel cutoff tool to get a tip that will scribe the required depth and shape line.

thats how SebringMGB did the back door lines on the montero for me.

I use a small hacksaw blade. Just snap an old one in half and go gentley.

What shape do i need to form the blade tip too? Just snapping the sharp point or is there anything else?
