Found one US retailer that has an Acer Predator and it's overly expensive for how it's spec'ed. The numbers are nice, but it's about $700 too much.

They want about $2,400. At that cost, the CPU should be a Core i7 950 or better, and the GPU should be a GTX 295 or a pair of 285s in SLi.

Joker, "Men Who Stare at Goats" was based on actual events during the 70s after Vietnam the US government started project Jedi to create super soldiers, needless to say it failed miserably, but the movie was worth one watch!

Oh, I can't remember where I started it exactly (as in which post number), but it's buried somewhere in this thread. It's a massive weightloss campaign I'm on. It's like a stock market ticker to show my progress without having to make a post every couple of days. I can just put it there. The last three weeks have been brutal. I've lost and gained the same three pounds almost four times. I've had to get back on my prednisone because of my psoriatic arthritis (my second battery in these same three weeks), and that causes water gain and issues with appetite. Been a tough month.

Just checked there site an it says the case is for use with 1/10, 1/12 not sure if they mean scale wise or the actually weight an load wise, if push comes to shove i will use a wheelie king tranny.

Hey guys, I got bored and started getting car insurance quotes. I'm just gonna list em here instead of explaining:

£22,416
2003 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Type UK

£4,866
1992 Suzuki SJ 413 QBJA (Soft Top)

£7,500
1996 Mitsubishi Pajero Junior ZR-1 (I also got a quote for £30,000 for this

£3,343
1976 Ford MKII Escort 1300L (This is what I actually own)

£4,870
1996 Land Rover Defender 90

£4,254
1996 Rover Mini Cooper

So it seems my actual car is cheaper than the "bangers" I was looking at to set me going while I restore the Escort... :rolling:

THE_JOKER
04-21-2010, 01:17 PM
Going for a good motor, coupled to the HPI reducer, i had a play with both WK tranny an Pede an neither will fit how i want, the space behind them lame speakers will be taken up by battery/esc an radio.

yeah its pretty brutal when you first start out - I was lucky enough to have a for KA brand new aged 19...cheapest insurance quote fully comp was £1600ish in 2001(direct line) several companies wouldnt do fully comp for under 21's, and those that did offered me their low price around £2300+(e.g. Admiral) a year

still this is why there are options like 3rd party, 3rd party + fire + theft. but having got a brand new car I thought it best to be fully comprehensive.

That may have been a last minute thing. An Islamic group has threatened Matt and Trey over their depiction of Muhammad, saying that they could end up like Theo van Gogh, the Dutch filmmaker that was assassinated (martyred, in my opinion) in 2004 after he made a documentary on violence against Muslim women.

Those guys have more than once assailed my own faith in some of the most grotesque and repugnant ways possible (far worse than Muhammad in a bear suit), but as loathsome as those two are no one from my side has making overtures of murder against them. We're just saying, "don't watch the show."

Anyone think of any comedies that have you literally in pain from laughing?

What About Bob? had me laughing pretty hard when I first saw it. I didn't think the Tourette's outbursts were funny, but that's me. I'm sorta drawing a blank beyond that. I'll pipe up when more come to mind.

Ragnarok
04-22-2010, 08:29 AM
I can think of several comedies, but none that are gut busters. I really liked My Favorite Brunette (Bob Hope, Dorothy Lamour, Peter Lorré, Lon Chaney Jr., and a couple of really funny cameos) and Arsenic and Old Lace (Cary Grant, Raymond Massey, and Peter Lorré ) - it was a seriously dark comedy. Napoleon Dynamite was incredibly lame and somewhat bizarre, but I enjoyed it because I could identify with it. Maybe a little too much.

I get most of my comedy viewing from Mystery Science Theater 3000, which was actually a TV show, but it was movie-length. For the record, I preferred the years with Mike Nelson as host. Not that Joel wasn't funny, but Mike's style was better (even though he was pretty much always head writer from all but the earliest shows) and the timing of the riffs from all three characters got better, which to me was essential for the show's success. I haven't seen all of them but some of my favorite episodes would have been Parts: The Clonus Horror, I Was a Teenage Werewolf, Final Justice, Mitchell, The Final Sacrifice, Invasion of the Neptune Men, Revenge of the Creature, Prince of Space, Time Chasers, and Hamlet.

If you approach ND from a certain perspective it has a very strange art-film quality to it. Jared Hess apparently doesn't like to move the camera much, which can be an interesting cinematic effect. One scene that seems rather noteworthy in the film is where Napoleon is running to get to the dance and the camera has this really wide-shot of the low-mountains around Preston, Idaho and he is this little thing running across the road, and then stops to check his watch. There's just something curiously compelling about it. I guess it's the staging. I think Hess' camera moves were most dynamic in Nacho Libré (another good but face-contorting one), and that's not saying a lot. Where Nacho is walking away from the monastery to meet his destiny (so to speak) is probably the most the camera moves outside of the ring sequences. It's Jack Black in his least Jack Blackiest part. I mean, c'mon, Peter Stormare's in it!

i'm pretty lucky here, within a 10 minute drive i can get to, clumber, an unused sand quarry, an unused stone quarry, sherwood forest, a place called the hills and holes at warsop, and loads of ramdon woods and forests.

and black rock is just a 30 minute drive :bacondance: :bacondance: :bacondance: :bacondance:

i dont know yet, im possibly thinking about getting a couple of cherry shrimp. i already have 2 guppies in there, and the tank can hold around 6-7 fish. you just have to add them every 28 days to allow the eco-system to settle down.

ive been to clumber before on holiday, was nice, i took my mini-z overland through some puddles there and broke the steering:burnout:

wow, cheers mate :) im trying to convince my mom into letting me get a bearded dragon... of course it'll get lonely so ill need another ;)
what sort of fish tanks did you have? ill take pictures of mine later, i need to get them to check the water is ok but it was near perfect last time i tested it.

Oggy
04-24-2010, 03:51 AM
i worked in an aquatic section of a garden centre, my own fish tank was 6 foot by 3 foot by 3 foot, i kept marine invertibrates in it, that was a lot of hard work

i had a bearded dragon about 17 years ago, they are great little pets, they are a lot cheaper now, i paid 225 pound back then, and that was the trade price, we sold them for 400

Lee
04-24-2010, 03:56 AM
yeah they do some quite expensive still, but alot cheaper now. its food aswell... do you have to constantly feed them live food or will they have vegetables too?

Oggy
04-24-2010, 04:14 AM
i gave my dragons, crickets, apple, cucumber and grapes

Lee
04-24-2010, 04:22 AM
cool. so have you ever had cherry shrimp? looking them up on google they seem pretty cool, i know the shop i go to sells and breeds them and ive looked in a few times at the tanks.

Oggy
04-24-2010, 04:35 AM
they are slightly hard to keep, becouse they are very sensitive to high or low ph levels.

if you have light coloured plants and gravel they will look dark red, if you have dark coloured plants and gravel, they turn a light colour, and can actualy turn transparent

Lee
04-24-2010, 04:47 AM
cool, my ph levels were ok when i checked i think.. i know they dont like copper either. i have some big black pebbles in the tank and the biorb gravel, and a plastic green plant so im gunna have to buy some real plants for them to feed on. should be ok though...

Oggy
04-24-2010, 04:55 AM
sounds good, they should be ok once you get some real plants.

you really have read up on everything you need to know :beer&buddy:

Lee
04-24-2010, 11:19 AM
nitrites were dangerously high when they tested in the shop. no shrimp/fish today and according to the shop i need to be changing water everyday, testing it and i had to buy £12 worth of chemicals :/ should be good in about a week though...

Oggy

you need a thermostat to run the heater as they live in warm water, it looks like that is a combined, thermostat, thermometer

Lee
04-24-2010, 04:36 PM
thats just a thermometer. no heater because these fish can live comfortably at room temperature and the tank keeps to around 18/19 degrees c. betting would be boring on these, nigel (orange tail) is quick as hell and jimmy (black tail) likes to stay around the same place

yeah, 3second memory is myth

yeah it is false - goldfish learn to recognise people, we had one for a few years which would get excited when my father entered the room, mainly because he was the one who usually fed 'Bob'.

I can understand the assumption however - if a goldfish gets startled it panics for about 2 seconds, then stops and looks a bit silly like as if its wondering what the fuss was all about, then carries on as if nothing happened.

I do not like the Coen Bros.' work at all, so I'm not missing much based on my tastes. The only decent movie I ever saw TLJ in was The Fugitive, which according to what I've read was based on LR3's life story.

Sorry Rag...What was I thinking? I tend to like to call people by their names. I guess WB got to me. oh yeah, TLJ does suck, but he did do a good job in No Country and Three Funerals of...? It was not your typical coen brothers movie, or at least I thought it was not like their typical movies.

Out of curiosity, why do people put in a thread PM sent (name)?? why announce it? they know they got a PM cause its on there screen, bit like texting someone then ringing them to let them know you sent one?

Normal threads i mean not the BST, i know when its done in the BST its so someone can see someone else is interested first ect.

It is a filter pod set up that will be surrounded by a catwalk with railings and such. The welders started on Tuesday afternoon and this is where they were on Friday morning. It should be complete by Friday and I will post up some additional pictures.

PM sent Harry!

PM right back at you and I will respond here as well. The week ended up going OK. The pictures that I just posted is what was giving me my grief. My daughter is going to have tubes put in her ears on Monday and my brother just made it home after having a couple surgeries to remove two tumors in his head. He had to go back because his head was filling with air. The doctors removed the side of the skull and sealed the leak, added fluid, and had him stay in Houston for a little while longer. He has been up there for close to two weeks. He is feeling pretty good and I am going to try to go over and see him tomorrow. We celebrated my youngest son's birthday. He turns 5 on Wednesday and I just can't believe he is that old already.

All is good,
Harry

somewhat like that. The filter unit will be attached between a pond and a pumping unit. It has some larger filters to catch twigs, mud, frogs, and such. the piping is not complete yet. You can see one of the 10" spools in the picture. This is going to be used in the oil and gas industry, I just don't know what part yet.

Rag,
My brother was diagnosed with cancer in early February. He had three tumors in his head and some bad lymph nodes behind his stomach. The lymph nodes were removed a week after they were discovered. Two of the tumors were removed about a month ago. He was supposed to go back for a follow up and that is when things started going south. His skull had the leak and they fixed it last week. The doctors wanted him to stay in the Houston area after the surgery and he made it home today. Hoping and praying is all I can do at this point.
