My quick review of Alice.

- Okay, but not great.
- "Futterwacken" sounded like something Pee-Wee Herman got in trouble for but looked like something that Michael Jackson was striving for in between sessions of the Pee-Wee interpretation.
- The Cheshire Cat was awesome.
- The Tweedles were actually pretty cool. Didn't expect that.
- The guy that played Celeborn (LotR) and Guy de Lusignon (sp?) (Kingdom of Heaven) was her dad. He's a good actor and needs more high-profile roles.
- The "distorted reality" alterations to live-action actors was very weird to see in practice. I know it was done at the beginning of LotR: RotK when the origins of Gollum were being told. (Right where Gollum closes his eyes and the reopens them, they're huge.) Oh yeah, The Mouth of Sauron - his mouth was embiggened. In this there was Helena Bonham Carter's swollen Klaus Nomi look; Crispin Glover's super-skinny Knight Stretch Armstrong (although that may have been complete head replacement atop a motion-capture animated CGI body); and Depp's eyes were enlarged ever-so-slightly.
- Anne Hathaway, whose eyes are naturally too big, was like a goth nightmare version of Glenda, the Good Witch. Burton's visions of beauty always have the weird halo of death about them, and that's what I felt about her. I don't know what it is exactly, but it's creepy as hell.
- The bandersnatch looked like a hybrid of a gorilla, a white mastiff, and a bear. When his eye is "extracted" was the most cringe-worthy scene in the film for me. (Jabby's head-ectomy didn't bother me all - sucka had it comin'.)
- Was surprised to see that Christopher Lee was the Jaberwocky's voice.
- And finally, the actress that played Alice looked like a 9-year-old. She also looked like a blonde Sarah Gilbert (YARRR!!! DO NOT WANT!!!). I thought the actresses that played her sister and the left-standing of the two spoiled gossips were very, very pretty though. The guy that proposed to her makes one wonder if some families have been living on that island too long (cough-INBRED-cough).

All-in-all, weird but enjoyable…I think.

The folks' printer cacked on them and my current one will work with their older computers (new ones won't) so we did a trade - my almost-as-good-as-the-day-I-bought-it Epson Stylus Photo R200 and they buy me a printer to replace it. It is the 1972 Datsun 240ZG. The damn thing is older than I am...Hell it may be older than some of us here. I cannot get over this kit. Spank found it, bought it, and told me if I wanted it, was mine. I bought it from him and he went and found another one for himself, LOL. With the suspension I am going to use, there will be no engine or transmission under the hood. I think I will use a setup like Tim used for his 57 gasser. I just need to find a motor and a rear reducer that I can fit in the transmission hump. This I think will be a nice ride when it is done. And just so you know, this kit is like 200 times cooler than the COE. It is that detailed.

Thanks all,
Harry

The instructions show a rally spec from 1972 that was blue with white stripes along with the included decals. I am not much of a blue car kinda guy, so I may try the same scheme with the body red and the white stripes. Tower calls out the cup racer wheels to be a touch over the mini wheels in diameter, so I ordered a pair to see how they will look. I think I will start on the front clip this weekend and try to mount up the front suspension.

Once I get some stuff done, I will start a build thread on it. One thing that makes this kit so cool is that the interior pieces (floor, door panels, rear deck, etc) are all made of a rubber like material. It really give the impression of leather panels. Armor all should make them look nice.

That's what I call 2-80 AC. Roll down 2 windows and drive @ 80mph.

On a side note I just wanted to shout-out I finally got my motorcycle permit today. :excited: I bought a 96' Harley Soft Tail Custom a year and half ago for cheap. Needed a little work but in between rc builds and either being frozen or baked out of the garage, I finally got her runnin'.

Meanwhile, DMV won't complete my title transfer until I have insurance, even though it's registered Non-Op. Insurance won't cover me until I have my permit. I says well if you sell me insurance I can go to the DaMn-V and get it all done in one fell swoop. Unfortunately my life is not that easy.

Luckily I did get the permit, passing my second try. I tried arguing two of the answers but no dice. Anyway, if only my shoulder wasn't busted up right now, I'd go ride. Doh

A couple of things. Adult chicken pox can be deadly. However you shouldn't have them more than once because I don't think it's medically possible. Unless it's post-herpetic neuralgia (shingles), but that happens YEARS (like decades) after you've had chicken pox and it's painful in ways that's hard to describe. I think you've got something else, dude. Get to a doctor.

Do a websearch on "repeat chicken pox." It might give you something to inform yourself when you see the sawbone. There appears to be more than just an occurrence of shingles later on. Did you have chicken pox as a kid?

Ragnarok

Yeah, it's BL. Not sure what kind of motor it has. Probably a Feigao or some other Chinanium mill. It is a low kV high-torque unit, so it will be perfect for a big, heavy buggy.

The Baja 5B is also drop-dead sexy (like a monster-sized version of the OG Ultima), but it's too big for me. I don't do nitro or gas, either. This XTM Rail is perfect for me. When I get it I'll have to do a major cram-session on Li-Po battery tech. Gonna stick with Ni-MH or Ni-Cd on my other two projects.

Thinking about getting a Spektrum DX3S radio for the stuff I'll be working on this fall/winter. What's the consensus on that one? 10 model memory is enough for me and it has a cheap receiver so buying two or three RXs to ensure each rig has its own receiver won't be too bad to handle.

So tonight I get to go pick up my 16 year old daughter at the airport, she lives in Georgia with my ex. This is the first time she has been up to visit in a few years. Her mother makes visiting as difficult as it possibly can be. I'm pretty excited about seeing her. She is coming to stay for a little over a month! SO if you guys don't see me on as much as usual for the next month you'll know why!

First, awesome on your daughter's visit, RockEd. Second, the eighties SUCKED out loud! Looks like Ogg n' me are the same age. There was some decent music: Ray Lynch, Kitaro, David Arkenstone…wait, you probably don't know who those guys are. But, Quiet Riot, Ratt, Twisted Sister (what is THAT?) and all those other hair-metal t-shirt bands…"Come on, feel the Noise" - WTF was that all about? Although I will say that Van Halen, Metallica, Whitesnake and Def Leppard had some pretty okay stuff.

Okay, the 80s were a mixed bag. Fashionwise it was only slightly less grotesque than the 70s.

Well I guess it really all depends how much of your childhood was spent in the 80s I was born in '73 So I grew up on nothing but the 80s the grunge look and 90 stuff was hitting when I was 18 so I was already too heavily influenced in 80s culture to change. With that being said, I did lose my mullet before I graduated high school.:rolling:

Hey fellas. I finally saw Shutter Island this weekend. Pretty good flick, but it did get a touch too busy at the end. I was very surprised that MS directed it. After it ended, I would have thought that MNS directed the thing. I also saw Toy Story 3. Another pretty good flick that almost makes you shed a tear at the end. Mr. Huggikins was not so huggy after all. LOL

Last but not least...I took the missus to test drive vehicles and she decided on the suburban. Now we are on the search for a 2009-2010 with less than 30K on the clock. Just that alone sheds 11K off of the price.

You're only three years older than me. :p We called it hockey hair, and there was lots of it. I never did, though. I grew up with He-Man, Transformers, GI Joe, and remember (not fondly) The Smurfs, The Snorks (the underwater knock-off of The Smurfs), Strawberry Shortcake, Jem, She-Ra, Shirt Tails, Duck Tales, Goof Troop, M.A.S.K., The Mon Chi-Chis, and all those other girly, unisex or otherwise insipid TV shows and/or related merchandise, and plenty of toys that had no cartoons to peddle their crap (Inhumanoids [they had a direct-to-video show, though], Manglors, Air Raiders, et al).

I think we can agree that the Age of Disco should be purged from the world's consciousness.

HarryI think I know who MS is (Martin Scorsese), but not sure about MNS. The new Subs are great rigs (certainly the best looking they've ever been :)) in spite of the company being a zombie puppet corporation of the US gubmint. The price for that rig is insane, so any way you can get that down is a good thing.

As far as the burb, I am not so keen on a big gov vehicle, but it is very nice and she should be happy for quite a while. I will have to tear down my work bench and make something much smaller so she can squeeze the rig in the garage. I think I can finally make that built in work bench I have always wanted ^_^

ugggh, something happened. I was charging my 7 cell battery, and after i finished driving it in my slash (which has brushless now) and i heard it popping:blink: and i tiny bit of smoke coming out. I felt it, and it was way to hot to even touch for a split second. (This pack has had mabye 50-60 charges.) When i let it cool for about an hour, it had rips in the plastic casing around the battery because it was so hot. Also when i was driving it, it seemed slower than normal. Whats happening?

It's a phenomenon known as "zippypackpoofensplode." Maybe a bad weld, or it got wet and shorted, or its last charged was catastrophically goofy, or a cell just decided to go Christian Bale on the remaining six - who knows. Time to get a new one, I guess.

I just hope they follow through with it, this was probably the original intent of the studio anyway, drag their feet long enough for PJ to finish his other committments then give the green light when he is ready, Del Toro was just a fill in to keep fan boys shut up.

1) bent tie rod (trail fixed it to get home and ordered a new one)
2) Transmission torque arm stud came loose (its just a little bolt)
3) tore the sidewall out of one Super Swamper TSL, will have to replace

Bad news, that was my last trail ride in my 78 CJ-7 Renegade. The guy that is buying it sold his jeep Sunday so he has the cash to buy it now.
