Gon' be another cold one today. Some clouds are moving in over the weekend, so the temperatures should go up a little.

It's going to be a really lean Christmas this year for us, but I'm not worried about it. Having family together is far more important than worrying about a mountain of swag under the tree. It'd be fun to have a new composition put together to share with my siblings' families when they come up. My new sister-in-law has never heard my music before. The problem is I've been so engrossed with work and dealing with hands that feel like they've been broken that I haven't done squat with my music rig for a month. Which means I still haven't gotten used to my recording software so that I would have at least some semblance of understanding it. Gyah! <grumble, grumble>

Not to change the subject too radically, but I just got some potentially bad news regarding my controller project…

Where have all the keyboards gone?
Sunday, 19 December 2010 13:37

Over the past few weeks we have had some lengthy discussions with Fatar on the nature of the business of Keyparts. This has required that we extend our product range before we can re-introduce Fatar keyboards. We are in the process of clarifing Keyparts requirement to fit Fatar keyboards into our currently developing range of products, including the supply of the keyframes with our keyboard controller project.

We apologise for any inconvience that this may cause to our customers. Fatar is now closed until 9th January at which time we will continue to have on going discussions with Fatar. This situation has delayed our expected November delivery, however we can report that this is now intransit.

We hope to increase our product line as quickly as possible to resolve this situation, if you are searching for hard to get supplies or want to get your project running, please contact us. Hopefully normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

What this means is that Fatar, the keybed mfg., has decided to play hardball with Keyparts UK by demanding they carry (essentially) the entire Fatar keybed lineup if Keyparts UK wants to continue selling Fatar mechanisms. KP is a startup and may not have the financial wherewithal to do this. What it means for me is I may not be able to get the semi-weighted 88-key action I need from them - I may have to scavenge eGay for used, beat-up or cat guano-encrusted (http://acapella.harmony-central.com/showthread.php?2716145-My-Cat-Just-Took-His-Revenge-Out-On-My-Korg-M50-88-HELP!) VMK-88 and VMK-88+ keyboards. :kick:

Early January isn't that far away, so hopefully I'll know what to plan on when KP gets the word. I wish I had the cash to begin with when I discovered them - I would have been able to get in on their first, and potentially only order. (I truly hope that's not the case.) That order is being fulfilled and has already shipped from Fatar, and this situation wouldn't have affected me. :(

Okay, back to your Jeep Love-in.

THE_JOKER
12-19-2010, 10:03 AM
Sucktastic Rag, is keyparts the only place you can go for this order?

Ragnarok
12-19-2010, 10:08 AM
Yup. Nobody here in Barackistan will even talk to me when I ask about ordering an action. Keyparts UK sort of came out of nowhere a few months ago, answering a prayer (figuratively) for a lot of guys that are building or restoring keyboards. There isn't a huge demand for stuff like this, but there is a need for sure. If I lived in Yurp this wouldn't be as big of a hassle. If it weren't for this @#%$*& arthritis, I'd just strip a fully-weighted Studiologic VMK-188+ or similar rig and be done with it.

its £900 to insure the yamaha im looking at.
in your opinion leo, what would you go for, first bike wise between-
yamaha yzf r125
aprilia rs125
aprilia is 2stroke, much faster but thirsty and parts are cheaper.
yamaha is 4stroke, good on fuel, but parts are expensive, for example a side panel costs £85 plus £75 for the vinyl.

A suzuki Sj will be expensive for you to insure, it's a jeep that can cause a lot of damage to another vehicle.
Is that full comp insurance?

None of the above I'm affraid.
Sad to say, but you are going to drop your first bike. Hopefully not in an accident with another vehicle, but at some point it will go down the road.
For your first year or two you should (i know you probably won't, but anyway..) get something more 'crashable'. Less nickable be nice too.

Definitely go for the 4 stroke. It will be much easier to ride, and much easier and cheaper in terms of maintenance.

I'd suggest one of these:

http://www.bikez.com/pictures/honda/2006/22471_0_1_2_cg%20125_Image%20credits%20-%20Honda.jpg

I know, I know, it's v boring... but your first bike is just plain awesome, no matter what it looks like!! :nice:

Or, more exciting, but much more crashable:

When it was time to replace the rings in the motor, I had the intakes polished and ported, new racing reed valves and exhausts, changed the rear sprocket, after that a stock 350cc bike could'nt even keep up with me, that thing was a rocket.

Rag, the show was absolutely incredible. We were 12 rows back from the stage. At the end of the show they called a young kid, probably like 9, he was in the front 2nd or 3rd row, they gave him the lead guitarist's guitar! Friggin insane light and laser show, when the flames shot up we were so close you could feel the heat.

On a side note the lead singer(female one anyway) hails from the UK!

I wish I never would have given my old Yamaha away. It was sitting in a garage from 1968 until 1993. I took it to my house and had plans on restoring it until my wife said there was no room in the garage. It would had looked like this. Not rust or dents. Just 30+ years of dust and dry rotted tires.

Catching up on this thread and saw this bike. I have the YCS1 180 from 1967. It's all stock except the mirrors. Hasn't been run in a couple years, but I rode it daily for two or three years a while back.

I am SO glad I don't live in the UK cause of those insurance quotes you get to pay. I pay around 250£ for my 95 2.0 16v Ford Scorpio, full coverage and 20000 km's (around 12000 miles) a year.

It's probably only valid at that company. Look into it, ask them what proof of ncb they will give you if you want to go to a new insurer after a year.

You have to approach insurance companies with a healthy dose of scepticism. They will wiggle out of paying up if any tiny little detail isn't perfect. They will also promise the earth to get your business... it's when you actually need them to do something that it becomes a painful experience.

Just triple check the small print before you waste a year trying to build up a non-existent ncb! :chug:

The first part was a very lame joke. :p Jettas are pretty cool rigs, the TDI engine rocks, and the wagons are a little more obscure than the sedans so you don't get the "me too" effect. However, I'm trying to figure out where the compromise is. Sounds more like a stalemate.

Just been playing with my camera and found a Panoramic mode that lets you take 3 pictures and stitches them together. It's a nice feature, but for some reason it only takes the 3 pics in 2.0mp..

This is what it gives me, in normal mode, not Night landscape:

http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f303/Iansvecs/100_8264.jpg

For it to be any good i'll need it to take them in full mp and larger. I see potential for RC poser pictures though, i'll keep playing with it see what happens.

There are plenty of empty fields on the way home with no power poles, buildings, or brush. If I get some good pics, I will share them with y'all later tonight.

We bought our acer from WM in 2007 for like $350 and it has not died yet. It works good for checking the web and MS documents and such.

Panoramas are fun. Ian, Do you have Photoshop? There is an automate feature for stringing pictures into panoramas. Here is my first(and only) attempt. I didn't use a tripod or anything, plus the perspective is bad. It makes a really, really big file depending on how many pictures you take.

Well, Megs was a Walther P38 in the 'toon and original toy, They didn't want to do the "magic scaling" thing in the films (which I totally agree with - it would have been stupid), so they made Megatron an alien jet dealie. I think that the premise might be for this new alt-mode is it's based on the mutilation Optimus gave him at the end of the second film. (For those that didn't see it, he gets half his face blown off.) His bot form looks like someone who is trying to disguise their disfigurement. It actually could be cool angle, providing the writer didn't pull the story out of his butt like the last one. :nono:

no doubt. Bumblebee is supposed to be a VW, no, they need to do it right. its stupid enough, they dont need to totally ruin it.
It's far too late to complain about it now. He's been a Camaro since the first film, which is fine. Paramount/DreamWorks/Bay/Hasbro/GM didn't want to make Bee a warmed-over Herbie the Love Bug. Making him a modern muscle car makes him more of a badass. Although, I gotta say that the "talking through the radio" gimmick isn't too far from Herbie's R2D2 impersonation.

Hey guys,

I think I told you I was getting my old 90 4runner back, well I did and traded to my friend that I sold my 93 corba clone to, I am getting my Cobra back. :nice::bacondance::bacondance:

I will get some pics up here in a little bit I have to resize them.

It is an origional Blk on Blk car with the sunroof. only like 2500 made like that in 93. only has 82,000 origional on the car. o rust at all, not even underneath. The bad is the PO was going to have the car repainted and while at the local body shop someone dropped somthing on the rear decklid! There is only a few small dings that I was unhappy with that is the skim coat you will see in the pics. The color on the front fender will be the color of teh car, it is teh same color as Elenor. I am going to run semi gloss strip down the middle with two small stripes on the sides of the middle one.
I will put more info on the car in the car section before I make someone made. LOL70187

Og, I hope she can have her surgery without anymore delays.

I figured out why the missus was acting the way she was. She wanted to go on a vacation after Christmas. My company met our goal, so we are getting off Dec 24th and coming back Jan 3rd, and the missus has really been wanting to go somewhere. She wanted to take the kids to see snow and it escalated from there to skiing in Colorado. I finally convinced her to take it down a notch and follow her original plan. We will leave the Monday after Christmas and spend a few days in Ruidoso, NM. The kids can play in the snow and when they get tired of it, we will go back into the room and not be stuck on a mountain. We will be back by New Year's eve and have the rest of the weekend to recover. To get the upper hand on her, I think I am going to get her an Ipad or maybe the new computer anyway. That way when later on and I order my Porsche from Hong Kong, she has no room for getting mad at me. LOL

…numbers n' stuff n' junk…

That's spec'ed out pretty nicely. I checked what they're going for - price is really nice, too. It has a lot of memory, a nice sized HD, and that AMD CPU is plenty for most stuff. All-in-all, more versatile that the iPad you mentioned earlier. iPads are cool but they're really more of an appliance* than a full-fledged computer (*I won't go as far as to say 'toy' - they're danged useful tools for some things.)

Back to that AMD processor, when I do the planned major update/upgrade on my dad's computer this spring I'm seriously looking at going AMD all the way. From a cost/performance standpoint there's nothing better.

We broke the previous record in November and again in December. Breaking the shipping record, getting a lot of product out the door, we also earned this next week off. So this year, I got three weeks vacation! Anyway, long story short. More than likely, the cash will go into paypal and get myself a Porsche. Merry Christmas everyone and wonderful news about Allison, John!!!

Jenn loved the laptop just like you all predicted. She cleaned up at our house and I got hosed at my house. I did get one cool thing at home...I got a Jabra visor clip usb hands free device for the 'ole iphone and it works great. I also got a set of nutdrivers from sears that is identical to the set I already have and hardly use. I did pull a couple out of my toolbox to take to my hobby bench and the oldest said "Why do you have those out?" with the missus in plain view. I said I was taking some upstairs not knowing why he asked until this morning. I got a book on 1911 pistols and a shirt from my mom and her BF. At the inlaws, I got a box of .45 ACP ammo (I do not have a .45, I have a .40S&W) from the brother-in-law, a shirt and a GIFT CERTIFICATE FROM RPP HOBBY for $75!!! Hot damn I was happy! I gave the missus-in-law a great big hug for that one. As far as the ammo which I cannot use, I told my wife that it gave me a reason to go to the gun show and fine something to fit the ammo! LOL

Off to RPP's site and get my Jeep body ordered!
