all in all, it's been a hard few weeks, but i have a roof over my head and a great family, what else could a guy ask for:chug:

roflkopter 59'er is in the hangar as we speak for updates and repairs... ive discovered stress marks on the tail rotor meaning if i swap to my new one, ill notice more power. teh roflkopter should be fully operational in approx. 1hour?

The remodel consisted of a complete gut down to studs, restudded closet to make it bigger, then new drywall, new window, new doors, new paint, newly refinished furniture, all new outlets, light switches. basically the works! Now I get to do my other daughter's room!

Well I will put bars on the windows like they have on the buildings in the cities. Double locked form the inside. Plus I figure where I live a guy will have to be pretty brave to go about sneaking to the back of my house, since it's pitch black and there are all sorts of big critters about like Coyotes and Deer and bear and some larger wild cats. These kids nowadays are afraid of being in the woods in the daytime let alone at night. LOL!

An Englishman,Scotsman and Irishman were in a bar drinking somewhere in South America. They noticed a pot of money in the corner and asked the barman what was it there for. "Well" said the barman "that is there for the taking for anyone who can
1: Drink a full bottle of tequila in two minutes
2:Go into that box over there with a lion inside and pull a thorn from the lions foot.
3: finally go upstairs and make love to a 100 year old woman".

What happens if we fail they enquired. "If ye fail and survive", the barman said, "ye'll be sold as sex-slaves to a local tribe". Despite the risks they said they would try it. The englishman goes first and after half the tequila he collapses drunk and is taken away to be sold. The Scotsman is next. He downs the tequila and staggers to the lion cage. The door is closed and there is a quick scream as he is eaten alive by the lion, unable to defend himself. The Irishman drinks the tequila and stumbles towards the lions den. The door is closed behind him and almost immediately there are the most spinecurdling screams and shouts coming from the cage which lasts all of ten minutes. There is banging up against the sides of the box and everything and then silence. The Irishman emerges battered, bleeding and torn - "now" he says " where is that lady with the thorn in her foot"

The next day duck walks into the bar "Hey bartender got any popcorn?"

this goes on for a few more days, then finally the duck walks in climbs up on the stool, says "hey bartender got any popcorn?" Now the bartender is MAD! he says " you get out here, next you come in here, I'll nail your webbed feet to the floor."

Next day duck walks into the bar "hey bartender got any nails?"

An Irishman a Scotsman and an Englishman were lost in the forest and were captured by cannibals. The cannibal king told the prisoners that they could live if they pass a trial. The first step of the trial was to go to the forest and get ten pieces of the same kind of fruit.
So all three men went separate ways to gather fruits. The Irishman came back and said to the king, "I brought ten apples." The king then explained the trial to him. "You have to shove the fruits up your butt without any expression on your face or you'll be eaten." The first apple went in... but on the second one he winced out in pain, so he was killed. The Scotsman arrived and showed the king ten berries. When the king explained the trial to him he thought to himself that this should be easy.
1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8... and on the ninth berry he burst out in laughter and was killed. The Irishman and the Scotman met in heaven. The Irishman asked, "Why did you laugh, you almost got away with it?" The Scotsman replied, "I couldn't help it, I saw the Englishman coming with pineapples."

an american, an englishman, and an italian were all hiking in the mountains when they discovered a magic bush, the bush said I will grant you to be whatever you want, just run and jump of the cliff and as you jump yell what ya want to be.

The three men all stood thinking of they wanted to be, first the Italian went and as he jumped he yelled Black Stallion, the American and englishman looked down and at the bottom stood the most beautiful black horse they had ever seen. The American decided to go next as he jumped he yelled Bald Eagle and there he was soaring through the sky.

Finally the englishman said I have the perfect thing as he was running to jump off he tripped and yelled S*!T......

Three guys, one English, one American, and one Scottish, are out walking along the beach together one day. They come across a lantern and a Genie pops out of it. "I will give you each one wish, that's three wishes in total", says the Genie. The Scottish guy says, "I am a fisherman, my Dad's a fisherman, his Dad was a fisherman and my son will be one too. I want all the oceans full of fish for all eternity." So, with a blink of the Genie's eye "FOOM" the oceans were teaming with fish. The American guy was amazed, so he said, "I want a wall around America, protecting her, so that nothing will get in for all eternity. Again, with a blink of the Genie's eye "POOF" there was a huge wall around America. The Englishman asks, "I'm very curious. Please tell me more about this wall." The Genie explains, "Well, it's about 150 feet high, 50 feet thick, protecting America so that nothing can get in or out." The Englishman says, "Fill it up with water."

An italian, American and Englishman were all working on a high rise construction job together, everyday they would take their lunch. After about two weeks they were sitting together and the Italian says aye Spaghetti again, If I get spaghetti packed one more time I'll jump off this building, The american opened his lunch box and says fried chicken again, if I get fried chicken one mor etime I'll jump off this building. Lastly the englishman opens his box and says tea and biscuits again, one more time and I'm jumping off too.

So the following day lunch comes and they all open their lunchboxes and they all jump off and die.

Their spouses decided to have a joint funeral for the three men, as they were at the funeral the women found out why they jumped, the Italian woman says if you would've told me I could have packed you something else. The american wife says the same thing, the englishman's wife says you packed your own lunch!

A Canadian and a Scot were walking down a country lane when they came across a sheep with her head stuck in a fence. The Scot said, "Hoot, mon, this is too good an opportunity to pass up!" and proceeded to start making love to the sheep. The Canadian was beside himself with excitement at the sight. He jumped up and down shouting "Me too! Me too!" The Scot replied, "Dinna rush me, mon! These things take time." And continued about his business. Finally, the Scot achieved his climax and stepped aside for the Canadian. "Your turn now" he said. The Canadian dropped his pants and promptly stuck his head in the fence.

I heard that one before with different ethnicities also,

So a couple is touring around Scotland, and as they are driving down this small country road, they see a man out in the field making love to a sheep, as they slow down there is a boy standing on the side ofthe road. The couple stops and says in a disgusted tone do you know what that man is doing to that sheep? The boy says Ya-a-a-a he's my Fa-a-a-ather.

There was a very self-sufficient blind man, who did a lot of traveling alone. He was making his first trip to Texas and happened to be seated next to a Texan on the flight.
The Texan spent a lot of time telling him how everything is bigger and better in Texas. By the time the blind man had reached his destination, a large resort hotel, he was very excited about being in Texas.
The long trip had worn him out a little so he decided to stop at the bar for a small soda and a light snack before going up to his room to unpack this clothes.
When the waitress set down his drink, it was in a huge mug. "Wow, I had heard everything in Texas is bigger," he told her.
"That's right,"she replied. The blind man ate his snack and finished his drink. After drinking such a large amount, it was only natural his next stop was going to have to be the restroom. He asked the waitress for directions. She told him to turn left at the register and it would be the second door on the right.
He reached the first door and continued down the hall. A few steps later he stumbled slightly and missed the second door altogether and ended up going through the 3rd door instead. Not realizing he had entered the swimming area he walked forward and immediately fell into the swimming pool.
Remembering everything he had heard about things being bigger in Texas, as soon as he had his head above water he started shouting "Don't flush! Don't flush!"

You know Harry, being from NY we didn't used to have many Cowboys, lots of Rednecks but not Cowboys. Of course since country music has exploded in popularity we now have many wannabes. Anyway my point I was sent to Ft Hood Tx back in 1993 for close to four years of service in the Army. When I first got to there I was looking for a place to crash for a night before having to rport the next day. Found a Motel and saw an HEB grocery store just down the way from it. So as I walked into the store to grab some goodies out walk two 6 foot plus guys wearing ten gallon hats, hubcap sized beltbuckles and boots. I knew then I was in for culture shock!

Bullitt
03-04-2010, 08:02 AM
It is a cultural thing. However, we do not call them ten gallon hats because that is a yankee thing, lol. Hats are referred by Resistol, Stetson, or my personal favorite, Bangora. Belt buckles are a common item. Usually goes without saying, farther from the pasture, the larger the buckle. The names on the back of the belt kind of dropped off in the mid 80s. Every once in a while, I will see an old Mexican man in HEB (love my HEB) with his name on the back of his belt and it brings a smile to my face to remember the old times. It will bring a smile to his face too when you call him by name.

Harry

The Stray Cat
03-04-2010, 08:12 AM
Yep its a whole different world there from here. I know you guys refer to the hats by name, but many people don't even recognize stetson as a hat. LOL! I loved the HEB in Killeen, TX it had some odd things for me however, like pig ears and feet and such.

Up here when you go tothe fair and hit the french fry stand they have salt, mustard, and vinegar for toppings. So my first fair I went to in Texas I ask where the vinegar was the guy asked what I needed to clean with it. But the cheese was good on them!

Bullitt
03-04-2010, 08:21 AM
Vinegar? We just use that for cleaning out the coffee pot.

No lie. My old neighbors would BBQ on Sundays, every Sunday. Ribs, pork chops, steaks, you name it, it was grilled. If the weather was really nice, they would bring the tv outside, put on the picnic table, plug it into a long orange extension cord, and watch the cowboys. If it was hot outside on Sundays, the tv would be inside and a window unit air conditioner would be plugged in and sitting on the table. Priceless

Thank you. :chug: I'm thinking of either getting me an electric guitar or a new camera when I hit "the bottom" as sort of my reward. :D My guitar options are sorted (it'd be a full rig, not just the instrument), but for digital cameras I'm still all over the place. The amount of money I'd spend on either one is about the same.

I've been a fan of Olympus for a long time, and I really like the specs of their Four-Thirds bodies and the available lenses. Olympus is due for a new 4/3 DSLR announcement soon, so I'm anxious to see what's on the way. However, I'm also looking seriously at what Canon has available. The EOS 7D is super-smexy but too expensive, so the EOS 50D would be a nice compromise as well as my choice if I went that direction. The body alone is sub-$1k (noice), has a magnesium chassis (sweet) and tons of different lens options (spiffing). I've been skulking away at DPReview.com for a while and Canon's bodies fare much higher than Olympus', but Zuiko glass seems to be held in higher regard than Canon's lenses which doesn't make the decision any easier. If anyone has any comments in that regard it would be welcome. :nice:

If I go guitar, I'd be going with a Schecter C7 Custom (http://www.drumcityguitarland.com/drumcitygl/stores/1/Schecter-2010-DIAMOND-SERIES-C-7-Custom-See-Thru-Black-7-String-Electric-Guitar-P3284C432.aspx) with hardshell case, and a Boss GT-10 (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/GT10/) multi-FX unit. As far as what kind of amp I want/need, that's completely up in the air. The three I'm going to choose from would be Roland Cube 30X (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/cube30x/), the Peavey Vypyr 30 (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Vypyr30) or the VOX Valvetronix VT30 (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/VT30). They're all 30-watt 1x10" combos with effects. I really don't need many as my GT-10 would be doing all of the heavy lifting there. The Roland has awesome cleans, really solid tone and good but simple FX; the Vypyr has TEH BRØØTAL gain with a SHARC-powered modeling section, but sucks on cleans; and the VT is an honest-to-goodness tube amp and also has a good modeling FX component with decent a clean channel. When I decide to get a serious combo rig I'll either pick up a Carvin V3 ($1,200) or a Peavey JSX ($1,600), but that's a while from now.

Camera-wise, if I go Canon I'll pick up the 50D 15.1MP body (or its successor should Canon release a newer model between now and October), and their EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Zoom and 50mm f/1.4 USM (which will have to do until I can afford the $1,500 EF f/1.2L USM version) lenses. I'd like to get a Canon Wide Angle-Telephoto EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM about a year or so after my initial purchases. Now, if I decide to go Four-Thirds instead I'm not sure what I'll get because Olympus is in a transition period with their camera lineup and the newish Micro Four-Thirds standard seems to be stealing some of the standard 4/3 format's thunder.

The thing is, I plan on actually getting both groups of items at some point, but which will be the most important is something I'll decide over the next few months.

Not much. Nearly another foot of snow since last night and sizeable drifts headed our way later on.

Hey Rag! an Sweet!!! i loved the original Tron film! this looks great!
This is the first movie of the year I'm actually restless to see. :D It's a December 17th release, though. >_< I realize that trailers like this are intended for the sole purpose of hype and whatever part(s) of the movie that may suck are, of course, omitted (Michael Bay, I'm lookin' at you!). The trailer music alone got me all excited. Might be the excuse I would need to get a 3D capable HDTV next year when this hits Blu-Ray. http://hvx-rc.com/forumstuff/emo/emo-brows.gif

The effects in 2012 didn't even take away from the bad acting and poor script. Woddy Harrelson was the only guy worth watching in the whole movie.

"Open Range" is probably one of the best western films ever made. Costner's non-acting actually worked well for once. I think "The Shootist," "The Cowboys," "Shane," and "Big Country" would finish out my list of Top 5 Westerns of All Time. :nice:

I loved the part when Lee Marvin was drunk up against the wall on his horse and his horse's front legs were crossed. LOL

As far as Costner is concerned. As long as he is playing a simple Mid-West American, he does a really good job. Case in point; Bull Durham, Open Range, Field of Dreams.

"Just hit the bull". Still my favorite part.

Okay I gots two questions, neither of which are related in any way:

1) Just tried to make an order with Amazon and as I get ready to do the final confirmation of my order I get a, "We're sorry. An error occurred when we tried to process your request. Rest assured…" and so-on. I can't complete my order and I've been trying for the last hour or so. Anyone else have this issue before?

and…

2) I just received a Facebook Friend Request from someone whom I've never met. I don't know this person, so it's sorta weird. Is this a possible Spam/Snoop attempt, or is this someone simply trying to get their friend roster numbers up, or is it someone that may know me but I never did…or what, possibly? I'm wondering how my name was recommended to her in the first place.

Bullitt
03-10-2010, 02:59 PM
Let me try to help:

1) I don't know
2) Is she hot? I get new friend requests from friend finder from time to time and I ignore them. If it is someone that is not from friend finder requests, I click on their profile and see if I have any mutual friends and figure out from there. If I have none, I ignore. If she is hot and no mutual friends, I accept.

More than likely, they are looking for someone else. I hope this helps you out.

I did the mutual friend thing and there's no connection to anyone that I know. Hot or not is subjective. If I could put on my chauvinist hat for a second, yes, she's well built (providing that's actually her in her profile pic), but definitely NOT my type: she's sportin' a two-sizes-too-small t-shirt…with Obama on it. :nono: Seriously, though, it doesn't matter one way or the other because there's no apparent link between us, and since I simply don't know who the frack she is in the first place I'll feed her to my Ignore button.

The Amazon trouble you'll have to just wait it out until it realizes that you are not you anymore…
That sounds like it could be solved with a cookie-clearance. It didn't work when I tried it, though. So, I did a websearch and it would seem that it's the message that Amazon displays when there's an outage somewhere in their system. I'll try again in a while.

Thanks, guys.

Rag, didn't realise you were on FB, not that I use it that often and don't play any of the dumb games and send virtual fluffy toys. Any app that asks to share my friends and "other" details I decline. I'll have to do a search Bartholomew Stappenphlap later, there can't be too many of you as you say

Well, Amazon's issue still hasn't resolved, so I have contacted their cussing-for-service help. It's getting pretty aggravating. It'd be nice if they had some kind of notice on their homepage that they're having a problem. The thing is they may not be and it's an issue with my end. Hopefully a response from them will clear it up. Unfortunately I fear that it will take so long that my order won't be processed until late tomorrow, making for a Monday or Tuesday delivery. :/
