Thanks for the compliments. I just installed that little bar that spans the main hoop. Hard parts over! WHEW! ONly thing left is to braze the chassis mount bars, install the dummy winch, and braze on some light mount tabs then im done with the front. The rear is next but im not sure how i wanna do it. Prob a real slimline bumper with tire mount. Still need to pick up some SDI fenders, RC4WD 3:1 GRU and a super long punisher shaft. If i decide to SAS it, ill need some TLT axles. Well see...

why a dummy winch? why not use the 3racing functional winch? all that effort making a winch bumper, seems pointless to slap a fake winch on it

Im thinkin about it cuase i was gonna save the winch i have for my next jeep LJ build and use a dummy winch for looks but have a servo winch behind it spooling the line. Oh yeah the winch will be functional but the proline winch to me fits that gaping hole it RTE's bumper. Well see though.

Thanks for the compliments guys. The truck is almost ready to go. I have no idea what i wanna do about the rear bumper. RTE has a nice front bumper but im not a fan of the rear.

Oh yeah Niel, hook line and sinker! I cant stop tinkering. Ive always wanted to do this kind of thing but never could cause we were always in an apartment. Now that we bought a house i can cut, grind, braze, pound, hammer, and whatever else whenever i want. Its FUN!

Its funny, i have sections in my garage for all my hobbies or sports. Ive got tools just for the 1:1 rig, all my mountain biking tools, of course the RC stuff, and cant forget about the tools you need for home repair. Ive gotta get it more organized though... and painted etc, etc.

I'm moving to a new place and this one has a bigger garage a backyard and front yard...Right now I do my stuff in the dining room. But at the new place I will organize my hobby stuff there.

Irwin...I can't join you on BB trip, going to be busy packing and moving. But will be joining you soon on future trips. I could do a 1:10 run though...let me know when ur LR3 is done.

I know this is overdue but ive been busy. Oh well here goes. I played around with a few different setups for a 4link rear and ended up with this. I used TLT link mounts, cut down axial links, and made a link truss. It actually works really well.

Here is an underbody shot showing how i fit all the electronics in there. The servo winch is a JR 590M metal gear servo attached to a sewing spool. It works really well and pulls this little truck up off its wheels if need be.

And finally with the body mounted up. Roof rack is still a WIP. What do you guys think about the design? I didnt want to copy anyone elses so i came up with my own. Its a mashup of the Roverrack rack, GOBI, with some of my own little twist to it. Its rather simple but i had to work with what steel rod i had left.

Only things left are lights, fender flares, and new gears and bearings. Please comment good or bad. This thing if so fun to wheel!

Oh you know i will! I just brazed up a mini ladder for it and am working on the mesh flooring for the rack. Just looking for some proline lights to put up there. The little axial ones are WAY too small. Update coming next week.

Do you guys think i should add a few top crossbars to the roof rack? Im kinda debating this. Im gonna be picking up a proline light bar today to fill that GAPING hole on the roof rack. Then ill be adding rear work lights and prob call it done. Anything i should change? Im really starting to think it would look better on SDI wagon wheels and the new scale doctor tires. Whatcha think?

I don't think it needs crossbars up top. They'd just raise the COG that much more.

SDI wagon wheels and Scale Drs or Grip Drs would look great on it. Much more scale, IMO. You won't be giving up any performance on the rocks either (a little less flotation in soft stuff though).

I prob will end up ordering the SDI stuff. Its funny how these 1.55 tires are the same dimensions as the scale docs but the look of the two are different. Weird huh?
