We made some improvements on our 2nd patch of the F-350 axle housing.

First, there is no more hole on the pumpkins anymore. The finish is much better now. The inner design has been simplified too.

We are working on the straight axle housing (no knuckles), we expect to have the CAD done by early next week.

Note: What you see above as V2 is not a finish product.

You know what would be really slick? Instead of eliminating the hole in the pumpkin (which I really like, as I unlock my diffs sometimes (one of the better features of the Hi-Lift)) have a threaded hole and a large grub screw, just like the 1:1 axles use for fill plugs.

I do like the finish on the V2, though. :nice:

I'll have to agree, having the ability to lock and unlock the diff is a great feature. I sure wouldn't mind having a solid rear axle without the steering knuckles.

can we request version 1. I'd hate to lose the hole

I agree:
- threaded hole
- straight rear axle
and (as written before):
- smooth the underside of the pumpkin; that 1x1mm "lip" there will catch on obstacles

Threaded hole and a straight rear axle would be awesome. But even without the threaded hole theyre way up on my wishlist :nice:

How about a removable diff cover just like a real axle. This way you could access the lock pin and clean and regrease the pinon and spur without having to dissasemble the whole axle.

I still think it would be nice if the housing were more round, making it look more scale....

But no matter what you do with the design, you cant please everyone....

By end of December you guys will have a lots of different axle options, so hopefully everybody can find one that fit him the most.

We did had the idea of a removable axle center cap. We probably do something like that on the K2 axle.

I suppose I could always just drill the hole myself... hopefully the stock rubber plugs will fit.
