Hairba11's 1:8 version of Hogan's Hot Rod (with Moose Portals)

Back in the day doing crawlapalooza at disney OK at Hogan's Offroad Park, i got to go for a ride with Hogan in is Hot Rod. this was one of the coolest rigs i've ridden in. i loved the look of it.
I'm rooting through photobucket and posting images again as i can't find my piece of graph paper i drew the 1:8 scale chassis on.

i have 2.2 stompers, and solid black delrin beadlocks with red rings, 7ish years ago i was playing with highlift axles and integy axial portals and trying to make that work, now i have stumbled into a set of the Moose Portal Axles, so this build will have to happen now.

should be interesting for sure, I like the suspension setup he went with with the transverse leaf spring like a model A or corvette lol.

Mog axles, 44 swamper tsl's and ferd power though? poor guy must have been brainwashed since young to use that motor lol jk.

Over the winter when the outdoor activities are on hold he cobbles stuff together out of what he has laying around. The ford motor and 4 speed came out of a motor home. He has a comp buggy he put a twin rotor rx7 motor in because of the awesome power to weight ratio.
On the suspension, my pics don't show it, but the link triangle plates basically come to the center and have 2" trailer tongues. The chassis skid plate under the transfer case has two 2" trailer balls. Couple of hydraulic lines, couple of spring bolts, uncoupled the hitch and the whole axle rolls out for service or repair, or throwing under another chassis.

dude, 1-link mog axles? AWESOME. Inverse leafs? AWESOME. dude, that thing is awesome. I might just have to build a smaller version with my portaled MRC axles.

yeah I noticed the suspension design as grader ball or 1 link setup, for low speed offroad only use that is the way to go for simple suspension that will still flex.

Today I made huge progress on the build

Bench went from

To this

And that's it.

Ok, not quite.
I rooted around and found my box of parts. I have the eritex? Comp solid bead lock wheels, missing rings. A set of 2.2 stompers, and a set of 2,2 swampers. Also had my original set of axles I was planning on using for the build.

And ran into my first complications. The link mounts bolt to the top of the axle and due to asymmetry can't be mounted on the bottom. Guess custom fab will be starting early.

I finally found my drawings and full size graph paper chassis plan! Now I just need to find another reason to procrastinate!
