Yes, as many of you, I have started defender too.. Due to the lack of time, updates will by just time to time. Right now I have painted body, with trimmed wheel arches at the end, aluminuim epoxy glued frame and frame holders integrated in the bodyshell. Some diamond plate parts, licence plate etc will come next.

Yes, light will be added, but that is almost the last step Long way till then.
Chassis will be self made with Hilift axles. RC4WD Plastic Trex was planned before, but it looks like I will be waiting forever for them (always sold out). Now I'm waiting for my lift axles, so I can start CAD designing the chassis more seriously, now i have only 2D quick sketch. Frame rails will be lasercut.
I'm not sure with the tranny yet. It will be RC4WD for sure (great size and shape) but dunno if 1 or 2speed one. I think 1 will be good.

As for suspension, I plan to use TLT shocks minus original springs and use Tamiya DF springs with them. Longer spring front - coilover setup with TLT shock and shorter one back with shock outside like real landy. I wish to keep mechanics as similar to original as I can.


btw color is Ford Panther Black, very similar to original Land Rover Java Black.
I dont wan't to cut interior nowhere, so own chassis is needed.

Well rims and tires not set yet...I have some 5-hole aluminium topcads, so maybe black painted and Outcroppers? Dunno now. If there are spare money, maybe some wheels mabe by CAC. I love his products.

Surely there is always room for another Defender.
It is interesting to see the different ways people approach them as well. I'll be watching.

on this page you will see my chassis which is built to scale and is therefore quite deep through the centre and there is a shot of it on the bonnet of my 1:1 side on showing the RC4WD R2 2 speed tranny, it is mounted flush with the bottom of the chassis because on a defender nothing hangs down and it doesn't stick up too far but I have had to cut out the inside corners of the front foot wells in the interior. Not much, just a bit. Hope this helps.

Landy you have very nice build, it will inspire me a lot for sure, thx for link.
As for cutting interior. I would rather cut the frame partially, where the footwells are. Tranny will be in the nearly same position, but motor will point to the back of the car, so it will all hopefully fit under the front seats.

If you reverse the gearbox as you say, point the motor to the rear you might just get it in without cutting the interior!!
