original build cane be found here
http://www.scale4x4rc.org/forums/showthread.php?t=59270 a little background ive been into jeeps since my dad had a cherokee when i was 5. he loved that jeep and i thought it was a cool ride. loved it even more when we had a huge snow storm and we were the only ones who could drive on the roads. well, he had to sell it because my mom's aunts couldnt get in the tiny back doors and they bought a zj. i loved that one too, identical snow storm a year later and we were still the only ones on the road. then my dad showed me the his old xj (knew the guy he sold it to) and he lifted it 3" and put 31s on it. i was in love, looked like a monster truck! fast forward 10 years. i get my license, bought my mom's old sebring but wanted a jeep. sold the car, bought a bone stock 99 2 door, 5 speed jeep cherokee. i ended up babying it for awhile, but then lifted it and got bit by the bug. after 5 lift setups, it ended up on 8" of lift with 35" KM2s, long arms, SYE, OTK steering, alloy shafts, alot more crap. well, it ended up getting rolled after 5 years of owning it when an old lady cut me off. i sold the sliders, bumpers and tires and bought a bone stock 97 zj limited. its now getting a 4" lift and 32" KM2s its a habit. i still have the xj which is being turned into a juggy but my r/c jeep is starting to turn the same way.if you read the original thread, it started off as a stock scx10, going for the stock look. i wanted more performance so i ended up lifting it using HPI crawler king shocks and cut coils. well, i got a set of rok lox, but wanted 2.2 performance so i bought a set of 2.2 super swampers and rocked it like that for awhile but the abuse has taken its toll on the body and i dont want to scratch up the purdy paint haha. so im selling it, starting with another xj body and its getting painted up to look like a trail xj. so far it has: -scx10 frame and axles -65t motor -14/whatever stock spur is gearing -HPI ESC -crappy 6 cell batt -2.2 swampers on crawler king wheels -stock bumpers -crawler king long travel shocks -custom front links, 98mm axials rear -aluminum steering -crappy servo well, now that its going under the knife, im going to drop some $$$ on it -axial bead locks -27t motor -better gearing -4500mah battery -headlights, fogs, tail light boxs -RC4WD tire carrier rear bumper -tow points -better servo -stretched rear -more crap its going to be built more for performance but still keep the looks. heres some cliffs of the last thread and the evolution of it ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() it drives just the way i want it to now but its still a little top heavy which is why im going for a new body with no racks up top or anything. oh yeah, full waterproofing too and a snorkle ![]() so thats where its at right now, except in pieces getting ready for the rebuild. stay tuned ![]() |

That looks like a REALLY fun rig to drive. I'm not a fan of jeeps, but this is a doozy. Good luck on the rebuild, post up pics!

thanks man! she is a blast, just goes anywhere but its lacking in the power department. needs more wheel speed for climbs and torque on the rocks. also having a problem with the drivetrain so i have to tear it down. it threw a rear driveshaft last week and the shaft flipped into the ground which stripped the spur but now the tranny makes a grinding noise every so often.
just another thing to add to the list haha. picking up the new body tomorrow along with ordering up the tire carrier and snorkle hopefully. also anyone reading this, check my for sale thread to see if theres anything you need! need some $$$ haha |

got the rear end stretched, lowered it a little, now to just cut up the rear quarter panel and chop the bumper off. axial wheels on it now but im going to paint the other wheels and throw them back on. a little less offset so they dont rub all over..well..as much haha. gotta love big tires.
![]() ![]() wheel base now..may stretch the front a little more ![]() need to extend the upper some more..i know the pinion angle is jacked haha, not driveable right now ![]() ![]() ![]() im swapping in the f350s tranny for now along with the new motor/gearing combo and then she should be trail ready again. then comes wiring up the lights. going to try to work the roof lights in too. |
