A couple more days have rolled by and I have a dozen more hours under the printer belt.

Been doing a lot of upgrades to the printer. It's unreal when you can make a decision, hit print, and a few minutes, or hours later your done.

I had a leak with my hot end and working on the stock wades extruder is a royal pain. So I printed a temporary replacement that was still compatible with the prusa parts. While I was at it I printed up a couple spare sets of gears. Might as well have spares just in case...

This extruder is backwards, the motor should have been on the right side. The Y was all messed up, everything's correct when you manually use it but it printed reversed. It only ever matters on side specific stuff, so it was only an issue with the extruder and text. The bottom of the print would actually be the top. I confused it in the beginning by reversing a reversal of a reverse setting. Now that I have a better understanding of the firmware it was easy to spot and fix.

Once rebuilt I had to test it. I cranked down the layer resolution to .2mm and this was the result. I still have a slight wobble to get rid of, but you really have to look for it to notice it. I stopped the print before it got too far as it was a 4 plus hour print and I made her too big, so she never would have finished before I ran out of room on the Z.

I also made it worse by the spool holder I printed. It binds up the filiment way before the head runs out of room. So that's now on my list to print a different one.

One of these days I'll have to try .1mm layers.

Then I turned around and let it print out a complete extruder upgrade to get rid of the older stuff altogether. It's almost time to clean up the wiring. Still on the hunt for a electrics box / mount that I like to print.

Rebuilt the printer and cleaned it up. Installed the 3rd and hopefully last extruder for awhile. I am thinking that I am just about done printer upgrades for the forseeable future. Now it's time to learn thr cad so I can start making my own stuff instead of just printing out other people ideas...

But a very interesting development I have found is called the openrc project. In essence it's a project to further 3d printing RC vehicles. I hope that some day I can help contribute.

What kind of format will it accept? If you want, I can put together something and email it to you if you would like.

Mainly STL's. There may be others but I haven't dug enough yet...

There will be a very RC related update shortly. I am just working on the last part I need to draw before I start printing!

Here's the first draft of the Mattracks 3d files I'm about to print. I am sure there will be issues I have yet to iron out. Good learning experience. I've only made a simple fan bracket before this using Alibre.

And the first test print. I can see a few changes I need to do to make it go together better, but talk about a great way to test something when you can hold it in your hand with so little effort.

That's a pretty nifty machine you got there, has the potential to make all sorts of unique and 1 off parts . I like how your printing the upgrades you need with the machine your upgrading

A few examples of what the printers doing so far...

I designed and printed up a 1.9 internal beadlock wheel to try out.

A set of 6" tall canopic jars for my daughter...

And a couple Millenium Falcons to see the differences in print quality using different layers. As well as a similarly sized Enterprise. The back end of the Enterprise holding the nacelles is about 1mm thick. And one of the Falcons fell 6 feet on to concrete and not a it of damage.

Not sure how I missed this... I'm now following this thread. I'd love to start a reprap. This is awfully encouraging.

This deserves more credit....think about all the parts, shapes, and strange bits anyone ever wanted 5 or 10 years ago and they simply didn't exist only in our head.... I have seen 3D printers being used on TV by factorys or big company as purely an experiment for the future.... but now its as easy to get a domestic printer at home making bits with a 3D printer ....'for fun'!!!

Great work buddy I am following this very closely

I am waiting to place an order for some one off wheels
