Ther is a group of people near me that has gotten serious about crawling
and they are having ligit comps, I have competed in 2 so far & its a good group of people.

I am about 35-40 miles south of raleigh.

Thanks for the warm welcome. the problem I am having now is which project to start first. I own a shop that specializes in 1:1 crawlers and the new full size pickups you see on the road with 10+ inches lift and big wheels so I was thinking something along those lines. but then again my family has a trucking background and that is also on my mind. I will do both but only one at a time.

start with what you build in real life and then add on to your collection. You are about 3 and a half hours away from where I live

Doesn't matter which one you start first, either way you'll be hooked. I thought a crawler would be cool, then a scaler, now I've got 40 of the bloody things

Welcome to the board and watch out for Ian, he'll nick your beer.

part of it will depend on your RC knowledge and confidence in crafting parts yourself - I'd suggest something like a F350 hi-lift with a slight lift and bigger tyres would be quicker and easier to make than say a comp crawler starting with just a pair of axles (say TLT-1's or similar).

equally it depends how much of a project you want it to be - or to put it another way how soon you want it to be running.

but either way look around the board - there plenty of great projects using all manner of starting points/parts, should give you a little inspiration.
