Default Static Model Build Off (pedeoff is the winner!!!)

Voting is over. Congrats on the win Pedeoff

Welcome fellow scale rc'ers to the first ever (that I know of) static model build off on scale4x4rc. I know there are static model forums out there that do build offs all of the time but we like this site the best and know each other on it so lets use it to stay motivated on our static model projects. Heck, a lot of us scale rc'ers started with static models anyway.

Here are the rules/guidelines:

*any static model kit
*current builds ok as long as they are less than 1/3 complete
(basic assembly and mock up ok but there shouldn't be much paint)
*post a thread in the static model forum with Model Build Off in the title
*list all kits and parts used for the build
*post a picture of your project and a link to the build thread in this thread
*maximum of 2 entries per member
*post your entry pic in this thread when your project is finished
*a poll of forum members will decide the winner
*Starts NOW! Ends November 13th

If anyone has a problem with an entry pm me or post in this thread and we will open the topic for discussion. If this thing takes off and we have a ton of entries then maybe we can have some themed build offs in the future.

I would like this to be a learning experience as well so try to make your build thread so that if someone wanted to replicate the build they could. Lets have fun with this and if any rules/guidelines need changed or amended lets discuss it and work it out and have a good time building some models.

I would not have a problem with that but I would hate to see you mess up a good rc project. Hobby Lobby has a 25% off coupon this week. http://hobbylobby.com/weekly/coupon.cfm Why not pick up another kit and do a static and rc version?

I think I may give this one a shot. I have several unfinished model kits that I've been putting off. I have a Jeep project I'd like to enter for this, I think, but it may be too 'done'. I've done practically zero assembly. I think I've glued 3 parts together. But the whole thing already has the base colors painted. No weathering has been done, but it still might be too much. I guess if it is, I could always just buy another kit.

I'll try to get a picture and you guys can let me know what you think.

EDIT: I'm thinking it'll be a no-go for the Jeep. I had way more finished than I realized. I have the whole engine assembled and mounted to the frame.

My Hilux work truck is way too far along to use as well. I'll have a look around and see if I can find a kit that sparks my interest.

I have this sitting on a shelf, but I was contemplating an RC build with it...

It's completely untouched apart from removing a few bits from the sprues and putting the tires on the wheels.

Oldskool, that looks cool. Jake, yeah the Jeep is a little too far along. My micro 4-Runner was built out of that kit. They fit the Losi micro crawlers pretty well. RPP Hobby carries the Aoshima kits so you could get another one from there or get one of the pick ups. If you have a local Hobby Lobby you could use that 25% off coupon.

My local Hobby Lobby, which is also really my only local hobby store, carries about 100 model kits. 80% are military and probably 80% of those are aircraft. I'm stuck with ordering my kits online I'm afraid.

I might look at getting another Jeep kit and building a fenderless rock crawler with a full cage and a linked suspension. I also dug out an old Expedition I was going to use to make a scale replica of my 1:1. Gimme a few days to sort things out and I'll figure out what my entry will be.

Any static model is exceptable. No rc stuff in this. There are plenty of rc build offs. This is just for the static model guys. Stuff like you see in Scale Auto and Fine Scale model magazines.

ToyTundra that will be sweet! I'm adding you to the entry list in the first post.

tubbyt you can enter up to two rides just for that reason. When I get to building I usually have two or 3 going.
