Looks like they've been paying attention to recent developments in the hobby. It'll be interesting to see how their usual audience takes to it. Hopefully it'll be popular enough to convince other manufacturers to include factory inner fenders.

now that this is becoming a reality, do you guys think this is the beginning of a different era for scalers, with such a big entity jumping in? will Losi or associated be next? HPI is supposed to be in this year as well, if the venture becomes a reality. Does ARRMA or ECX jump in with a 1/10 scale crawler, or does one of the smaller companies like MST get bigger because Traxxas being in the scaler game is going to legitimize it to the larger group of hobbyists that aren't yet into scaling/crawling?

Its a good point - I think any major company will jump into such models if they think there is profit in it.

That said there are major companies making scalers already(e.g. Tamiya), and plenty like Axial or Vaterra who pretty much only make scalers/crawlers and seem to be doing well enough financially.

It does look interesting btw, I just hope they don't put a "50+MPH!!!!" sticker on the packaging like most TRX stuff has these days

yeah, *but*...

the tamiya stuff CC-and-CR, the Hilux and others are all "Tamiya" style crawlers and scalers that don't "conform to the norm" (ya like what I did there ) and neither Axial/Vaterra are mainstream companies like associated/losi/Traxxas.

I guess I think of it like on-road: you have associated, tamiya, *HPI, as major manufacturers in the fray, but then there's a ton of other companies involved as well: Mugen, Awesomatix, Xpress, Yokomo, X-ray, Serpent, Etc...
Will Traxxas bring any validity to outsiders and increase sales in the scaler market overall? if they do, I'd think that others will follow suit which, will saturate the market, but will that increase the amount of events and number of courses and tracks as well?

I hope so, I enjoy scale runs and ultra 4, so I'd love to see more areas like where I'm at now, with 2 ultra4 tracks and scale events almost every weekend within 2 hours of me for about half of the year.

EDIT: and we all know that on 3s it will do 60+ !!!

More choices for people just getting into the hobby isnt bad, and I have had good luck with traxxas stuff in past so them jumping in might bring about changes to other companies and we might start seeing more affordable waterproof servo's, ESC's etc. On the scale side of things I figured it would be 1/8 but then again we are all used to tamiya stuff which usually runs near 1/12 correct? I know they do make other scales but I dont think theirs are true 1:10, after all in real life a superduty dwarfs a 79 toyota but the highlift hilux and highlift f350 are near identical size.

Adjustable cruise control?
Does it have intermittent wipers and A/C too?
