If you guessed "neighbors who are too lazy to tie down their gazebo" you win!

Took the main service, cable and phone lines down (but not out of service). Looking at about 3 grand to get it all fixed. Barely missed the Challenger.

I took it apart and chucked it back over the fence while the electrician was doing his thing. Now I get to fight with the insurance company.

Sorry to hear that. I hope it broke so they don’t try to just stand it back up.
Good luck with the insurance company.

Update:

The electrician is done, insurance is coughing up a check, less the $1000 deductible. I had a talk (sort of) with the neighbor about that. The one who speaks English is going to talk with the rest of them and "see what we can do." I'm hoping his Latin heritage will kick in and "pundonor" will prevail. I'd much prefer to settle this like gentlemen over hauling them into small claims court.

Why on earth are they not paying the whole thing?

Did they not have insurance?

Because they're animals. You know, the kind of people who puke in your bushes and can't figure out why you're mad about it.

Sadly I know that type only too well, only escaped from the feral family that lived next to us when we moved 6 months ago.

That's a funny looking boat.

I think you mispelled "Sawzalled their trash into easier to move pieces before putting at the curb for garbage pickup". Otherwise, look forward to the same thing next windy day...

Sorry to see your bad luck. Things like this happen and seldom do the other property owners insurance pay up. Small claims court can be a waste of money. You will throw good money after bad. I am not a Lawyer

Here is a little secret about small claims court and TV shows:

Accountability is her thing, and like most of what you see on television, it’s mostly an illusion. Because as even Judy Sheindlin has acknowledged, after she admonishes guilty defendants and orders them to pay for what they’ve done, the producers write a check to pay for those damages and give everyone in the case an appearance fee.
In other words, the producers help the defendants avoid accountability.

You can look into it for yourself. Both sides get paid to appear. Plane, food and hotel rooms paid for. Maybe you can get a few bucks for a new toy.

IANAL
