Default Vinyl decal paper

I'm sure if that's exactly consider a "tool of the trade" but I'm having a hard time finding someone to print decals for my latest project. I'd like to use adhesive vinyl for ease of working with and durability. I understand the process for printing and sealing vinyl adhesives from home, but I don't know what the best "paper" is to use. What do you guys prefer? I'd like something that can handle smaller details without too much smearing or blotchiness and something that's thin enough to not leave a hard edge around the borders. Any suggestions?

EDIT: Forgot to mention, for the design I have in mind, I think clear would work well since it's going on a white body, so I wouldn't have to worry about my printer not printing white onto the decals.

I have always had pretty good luck with Avery brand products, and they do make a water slide decal paper - but - I have to add the disclaimer that I have never used any of thier products (or anyone elses, other than what would come with a model kit) for this particular application...

good luck, and if you do find something that works well, please share.
