Default Finding and scaling dimensions from life size to scale

How do you go about finding the real dimensions of a vehicle and then scaling those down to the scale you need? If I'm making a 1:10 model, does that mean everything about the model is 1/10th of the original and scaling back up from the model will give the accurate real life dimensions? So vehicle with a 2.2m width will be 22cm in 1:10 scale and a 1:10 model with a 22cm width will represent a real vehicle with 2.2m width? Sorry, if this all sound like simplicity itself, but I'm a little confused and wanted to check.

Pretty much, with the exception of making a body to fit a desired width or WB, then you'll have some fudge work to do.
