I put it all together and will run it I'm sure after a while they will wear in and it will go away. The only problem I have now is I want to buy two more and build a Tomahawk and a Beetle, lol.
You are welcome sf2000xj. I agree with you on the drive cups there. I plan on using the option universals and I do not want to grind on them, so the decision was made to grind a dimple in the outdrives. Not a lot, but just enough to get the travel nice and smooth. *thinking* To build yourself a tomahawk you will need a front body post, a (narrower) roll bar, and body clip at least and they are hard to come by. Then you will need somewhere to put all the electronics. I have actually seen a couple of aftermarket Tomahawk trays for sale. As for the Beetle, it uses the same body clip but a different (taller) roll bar and a different (taller) front body post. All of these parts are kinda hard to locate unfortunately and if you do happen to find them.. $$$ very spensive... I actually think I stumbled upon a lot of the Beetle driver figures today and the price was kinda absurd IMHO. It did have a make an offer option though. I don't think the seller knows what they are either. I could be mistaken though. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1-8-...em48 6f82cccd

Let's see now.

I waited to get a few option parts before I even opened my kit and here is what I went through...

Quote:

I had to LIGHTLY file the flashing from the inside of the pivot area on the swing arms...

.... and grind the inside of the drive cups on the diff because they are perfectly flat instead of cupped.

there is also a problem with where the front shock towers mount onto the chassis rails...

Because they are made from straight bar stock and then bent, the rails are deformed at the bend, and the shock mounts will not sit flush. A drift file fixes this, but this is more work for you, the builder. Once you get that taken care of, you will want to cut some 2mm or 3mm spacers to shim the front shock mounts outwards to get some more clearance for the body to fit....

@RCJEEPBUILDER
Thank you sir. I appreciate the kind words. The 2014 Scorp makes 11 total circuit 1000 buggies now. I have not finished the latest one but i do have a sneak peek to share.

Spent a bit of time on the driver... He's so life-like you gonna wanna talk to him.

Thanks to everyone for checking out the stuff. - Arco

That Sidewinder is absolutely stunning. You inspired me to get the Re-Re Scorp and build one of my own. I swear, I read every page of this thread.

Very nice. Thanks for the compliments there. I have something else to share...

At the booth of the Kyosho we found a much-anticipated surprise: the prototype processing reissues of the legendary Beetle released in 1983 by the Japanese.

I've so far held out on buying one of the re-re Scorpions... that Beetle has just crushed my resolve. I'm buying one of those. Gorgeous!

To be honest, it's your thread Arco that piqued my interest in the old Kyosho's. Love every update you give.

@Honger
Nice. Glad to hear you are joining the Circuit 1000 Club. I try and update this thing as often as possible and with as much information as possible so it can be useful and helpful for those who want to follow along.

I hand cut some racing stripes and used some of the various left over decals to put some livery on the Mica Red Tomahawk.

Finished painting the Tub, body, and wing for the Repro Turbo Scorpion this past weekend.

So here we are with some more custom mods and assembly. This time I am sharing my fix for the front shock mounts so the Body can "drop-on" easier on all the Scorpion variants.

The chassis rails were cut using a CNC Router and it leaves some tooling marks. The rails were wet-sanded using 400 grit & then 600 grit sandpaper until the tooling marks were gone. Some Turtle Wax was then used to lightly polish the rails once the sanding was completed.

Here sits the new machined Chassis Rails, Extended Front Carbon Shock Towers with the 2.5mm Carbon Spacers, and Carbon Rear Suspension Plate that are going to be the NEW foundation for the Repro Turbo Scorpion.

Thanks for checking out the buggies. - Arco

Default SCORPION/BEETLE 2014 Option Parts

(No.30613) SCORPION 2014 & (No.30614B) BEETLE 2014

http://www.kyoshoamerica.com/search....y=12&search=GO

(HG Shock/Scorpion 2014)SCW013 HG Shock Set (4pcs/Scorpion 2014)
*note* It would appear that the SCW003 Carbon Front Shock Stay, SCW007 Carbon Rear Shock Stay (HG Shock/Scorpion 2014), & SCW013 HG Shock Set, will not fit onto the (No.30614B) Beetle 2014 unless you modify the body.

37021 Le Mans motor (Brush/30turn)
It appears to me that the 490 motor can is a bit short.
If so, the rule is that it would have the same length of wire on the armature as a 27 turn motor.
Just guessing here as to why it is listed as a 30 turn.

*edit
Found a better photo of the 490's box.
The armature is (drill?) balanced. The end bell has heat syncs and the timing is adjustable and it comes with with surface-mount/chip type capacitors and the motor leads come pre-installed. The windings are fixed with epoxy. Sounds like it is made to be beat on with li-po batteries. A can length would be nice.... maybe the cans go like 550 ,540 ,490 ???

Default Repro Turbo Scorpion 2014

Final assembly started. I left out the part where I primed and painted the tub using Tamiya Fine Surfacer and a topcoat of Tamiya TS-26 Pure White. The decals are from tamkyo-reprodecals and they are super duper sticky. I tried to list all the various parts that are being used. Some genuine Kyosho parts and some nice upgrades and reproductions were used as well.

dwyz250
http://www.ebay.com/usr/dwyz250?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

I reworked my integrated shock tower/servo saver brace and used some 2.5mm carbon plate for my servo saver brace.
This brace makes the entire front end very solid.

More updates to follow. Thanks for taking a look. - Arco
