I've got a stock ascender (blazer) with the floating battery is it legal to run? And what class would it be in?

It's definitely legal. Tyre size (if I'm not mistaken) will make it a class 2.

By "floating battery" I'm assuming you mean the way the stock ascender has the front of the battery tray connected to the front axle? If so, then its not strictly SORRCA legal:

Ref. http://www.scale4x4rc.org/forums/showthread.php?t=76348

Quote:
Batteries must be chassis mounted and should be hidden from view.
And ref. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/scale...ml#post5118580

WP gave you the explanation, "It's not so much that the Ascender battery mount makes it an awesome performer, it's just that others will exploit that rule if they can use it to make their rigs perform better." That is why it is not legal, not to mention, the rule was determined way before Vaterra came out with the Ascender.
When the Ascender came out, the battery mount caused quite a stir and AFAIK it has been left that you need to unlink the battery tray's connection to the front axle.

... all that said, I'm not sure us folks at LSTR are bovered?

I was under the impression you had to change it if you wanted your score to be counted. If your not bothered about points then leave it as is.

I stand corrected Guessing this is the relevant rule:

Quote:
No "Motor On Axle" (MOA) of any kind. All motors, transmissions, and other electronics (other than steering servos) must be chassis or frame mounted. Your axles must be driven by one transmission or transfer case and a minimum of two drive shafts (except CC-01, TA-02, etc) No separate throttle control of drive shafts or axles.

All scoring be it scale points or course points are done on trust, as this is your first meet (I am guessing )I don't think the guys would mind unless you win your class ,easiest way is just cable tie it to chassis.
Class wise on stock tyres I've been asked this before (as can't find spec on them),and measured at 106 ,so class1

Question

Please count me in probably class 1.2.3.

Just 3 questions please:
- Will I stand any chances to complete all courses without winch (curently non working on my cars).
- Are you guys changing width of gates for class 2, or just class 3 gets widened?
- Can be 6x6 with CMS in any class (by tyre size)?

Thanks in advance, Jay

The courses will set out that you shouldn't need to use a winch but that don't include driver error or the courses changing throughout the day (weather or getting cut up etc).and ofcouse there is a 3point penalty for using a winch.

Gates are only widened for class 3

Yes but most run in class 3 due to vehicle size

Thank you for advice, all clear

... the width of my vehicles is worrying though.
That would put most of my vehicles in C3:
- upgraded HG 6x6 is too long to turn through narrow gates
- SCX10 with optional 4WS on 125mm tires and is 10inch wide
- just built Vaterra TH

and only one other standard SCX10 left for C1

As tere is never much time left for C3 at the end of day, Ill have to make some tough choices

PS:

... I suppose that each driver is only allowed one car per class to enter comp,
right?

Yes that's right and you must use a different vehicle for each class.
