Default Rollback tow truck...FLASHY LIGHTS 7-11-10

:worthless:

thinking about bobbing the body on my XC and building a styrene tow-truck bed, using the third channel to make a functional lift mechanism to retrieve dead RC cars.

of course it's a natural for big-rig duallies, but for now it's just an idea i'm kicking around. shouldn't be that hard to pull off (pun intended) and a high-torque servo should handle lift duties with no trouble.

anyone have a spare Blackfoot cab that looks halfway decent?

Well Stu if you made half decent rc cars you shouldn't need a tow truck!! :rolling:

Couldn't help myself........

I was kinda wondering about shipping from Der Fatherland.

never trust a guy who wears leather pants...

and Glen, this is going to hang around the local RC racetrack and do rescue work. when the turn marshals are yakking on their cell phones or picking their noses or doing whatever else it is they do when they should be looking for injured race cars, the tow truck will come to the rescue. MY cars all run, thanks very much :P

this one might have to stay in the "idea phase" for a while before actual building commences.

the goal is to be able to back up to a car and hook up to it hands-off, using only the radio. since touring cars get suspension damage in a crash, a wheel lift is out. since the car will therefore be resting on the ground, a very low-profile lift will be needed, like a spatula, but it has to be a) strong enough to do the job and B) scale appearing.

tall order, no? the lift will also need some sort of hook to ensure that the damaged car stays on the lift and doesn't fall off when the tow truck starts to move.

i shall put my keen and penetrating mind to the task and as usual come to the wrong conclusion (name that film). stay tuned.
