This is awesome! Hadn't read this thread before but regret not seeing it sooner. Top job.

Whereabouts in North Essex do you hail from? I'm over in Stevenage, Herts.

Well it's been a while since I've felt in the mood for it but after a couple of unplanned days off, the weather being to bad to work on 1:1 stuff, I decided to tidy up my man cave…….and had the urge

Yep, I've finally started the dash

So far so good, and now my mojo is back there should be more to come.

Styrene?! CHEATER MATERIAL!
lol, jk. Can't wait to see the final product before it gets painted! I love the raw material state of projects so much. I don't know why.

Yeah I know....... I hate the stuff but in my defence the dash board is, well, plastic....and foam covered vinyl, which is nearly plastic, and a little bit of metal, which is near the plastic.... Well, what the heck

Thanks Nepsites.

Got a bit more done, cut a hole for the steering wheel gearing and servo…..just need to figure out what gears (and get some ) and how to fit the servo

Also a trial fitting which will help me shape the ends and instrument panel.

The top needs to be dropped by a couple of mm but other than that, so far so good (especially considering I "don't do" styrene ).

Thanks for looking

Great work - especially since you "don't do styrene" as you put it! I think you've proven that you can make anything you put your mind to though mate.

Thanks for the update!

Thanks matey. Obviously when I say "I don't do styrene" that is a blatant lie as I clearly do (now) it's just that that is a material I have almost zero experience with……maybe I should change it to "I didn't do styrene"

Just a small update to show I am still doing it although progress is slow due to other commitments

Still loads more detail to do but at least it looks a bit like a SIII dash

For comparison

Well as my work pattern has changed I have a little more time to mess around in my cave…

A little more detail

And a little paint

You know I might even get to finish this thing one day

Thank you sir

About time to have a crack at the steering wheel…

As usual I seem to have picked the most difficult method (most accurate too ), the materials…

The spokes cut from 1mm sheet steel…

2 x 1.5mm plasticard cut to rough shape with spokes sandwiched between…

Needs some cleaning up…

Better...

And now for the boss (still work in progress)…

and now I need to go collect kids from school!!!

more soon
