Default Why no fast truck scale community?

I haven't posted on this forum for years but I'm getting back into RC. I had a Tamiya Hummer back in 2008 and just now got a Traxxas LaTrax Prerunner and Slash 1/16.

What I've figured out is there is no community for these fast scale vehicles even though many manufacturers now make race trucks. Race and drift cars are inherently scale and they've got a community with forums and events, crawlers are scale and have forums like this one, but what about the fast trucks? There aren't forums, events, or Facebook groups.

How come? It seems to be a very fast growing segment of RC tied to the boom in desert racing, yet you're basically on your own when it comes to figuring out parts choices, wheels, bodies, etc. Another thing is that the concept of scale is lacking with these vehicles. If you check the Youtube videos, vehicle specific forums, etc there is a clear zeitgeist that "more capable is better" IE the monster truck and "RC style" vehicles are better because they can go over rougher terrain, without any regard for the realistic looks and driving experience of the scale fast trucks.

How can a community be developed for this segment of RC? Can we get a section on these forums? Should I just make a Facebook group and start inviting people?

Well in truth the use of forums is generally in decline - people seem to prefer social media platforms and the suchlike these days(which includes stuff like youtube/vimeo/twitch for the sake of argument).

We always set out to dedicate this place to those of us who at the time were the "crazy's" who wanted to go slow with their RC's so as you can guess the faster scale vehicles is an odd fit - that's not to say we could never support them, this is the place for scalers after all

There's nothing to stop you starting up a FB group though

Yes I guess everything has to be on social media now.

But I don't get why scale has ended up being synonymous with crawling, and in other realms of RC there's no sense of "scale" as a thing... Even though some of the top products are scale trucks! Traxxas created a whole desert racer class of RC vehicles and the whole point is that they're realistic. And of course road cars are almost all realistic scale vehicles

Maybe because race vehicles already have race forums and groups?
