A 1/16 CJ7 will work, but I found that the wheelbase would need to be longer. I Actually picked up a longer drive shaft for a future change. The rear links just need to replaced with longer ones.

It's amazing how well the CJ5 fit the chassis. Just needed to get creative with the mounting arrangement. Other than that, it's almost like it was made for it.

Yup, I guess kinda rare. I only found one also. 1/16 Jeep CJ5

It's the same body as mine but with a different color and Renegade decals.

Something that just occurred to me...

It wouldn't be that hard to convert the Revell CJ-7 into a CJ-5. The CJ-7 was made by stretching the CJ-5. I may have to see if I can do something with that idea. Can't be any harder than doing a 1/10 TJ to LJ.

That's the one saved in my 'watch' list! I've been working on bodys for a Big Bear, Brat, Honda City Turbo, HG-407 Bruiser clone w/drop bed kit & topper kit, and am SICK of bodywork; so no stretchy CJ-7 for Moi.

You get the idea that they don't make cool stuff anymore like they once did? Dangit! Chris REC

Just a quicky...did this yesterday.

I converted one of my Revell CJ7's into a five. It doesn't sit as low as the original because it has the normal scale floor/interior. After some hacking I got it to go as low as it can, with out cutting the entire floor out. I will also have to move the battery. I like, that Nichimo fits perfectly on the Gelande, with only minor cutting to fit the trans area, which isn't even noticable.

Not sure if I'm going to use this, now that I see how high it sits. Maybe if it was leaved?
Back in the box for now. I will clean it up and primer it later. It was fun to see that it could be done.
