Your tubing looks thicker than brakeline. Have a link to where you got it from or specs "wall thickness" Looks clean I'm waiting on some solid rod to show up and I'l be making mine here shortly

Thanks It works exceptionally well. more so now that i have a neutral setting. Actually I would feel honored that you would want to duplicate my chassis!

It takes about an hour to mold all the panels, an hour to fit them to the chassis and any where from a few minutes to a couple hours for the paint, depending on how detailed I want it.

The coolest thing is that I can change the body at will and it don't cost me a dime! I've got stacks of aluminum cooking sheets

No specs. the tubing I got from work. it was used to make heat tracers on large condenser coils. it is simply 3/16 steel tubing (1/4 on the main rails) I put it up to a piece of brake tubing once and they are identical. Unfortunately we don't stock the stuff any more

Thanks! yep the cage is super strong. it's taken some real nasty tumbles and the only thing I tweaked so far was the stinger but only the top where it's unsupported.

All right guys here is the quicky version on how I did the molds.

first I take the body that i want to copy and I add cardboard to surround the section I want to duplicate

Then I fill it with plaster and when I pull it apart I have a negative

Then I add more cardboard around the sides and then fill the whole thing with bondo. Yep like you use on cars

Then I pull it apart to reveal an exact duplicate of the original body and in this case I cut it into sections

Here is the rear fender as it came out of the mold

For this truck I wanted a bobbed bed so I made another set of rear fenders and cut about 3/4" out of the back

then I bondoed the pieces back together

and sanded it down

I did the same for the tailgate

the full size gate started like this out of the plaster mold

this was the first mold I made so I had to test it with the aluminum

then I cut it into it's respective sections

and made another test panel

I'm terrible at documenting my work in progress. I like to just get it done so this really isn't' the complete process but just the basic concept.

I'm going to do a proper write-up when I do my next body, an F250 Hi-lift!

Well I haven't done much to this lately but After the last comp I decided to pull the panels and streghten them for the next comp so I figured I Would give everyone a little idea of what it takes to put the body on this truck

To start I first remove the cowl with 2 screws

then I raise the hood and take out the 3 screws holding the top of the fenders on

then 1 screw at the bottom

and the fenders off

Next comes the doors. A screw under the fender and in the B piller secure it into place

and it simply slides out of the boat sides

Looks kind of neat without the doors and fenders huh?

Then the roof simply slides off

Not much to it!

The body got beat up pretty bad this last comp but it's still holding it's shape. I hope it will make it through the next 2 comps and I'll make more panels for next season. I want to concentrate on my scaler now.

Awesoe Job!

Are you using pie tins for the panels or something else like flashing?

Yes it is pie pan tins. I use flashing for heavier stiff like floor supports and bed mounts.

I am going to have to get some Bondo, plaster and pie plates. That is one of the coolest bodies I have ever seen.

I love it and have built almost the same thing as a 1:1. Everything flows together and looks mean.
