does a "prerunner" specifically have to have a live rear axle and IFS or is that not specifically a defining feature??
reason i ask, the idea i have for my build is prerunner based but is not a ute so in full size would normally be fully independant suspension. would that still count as a rally car?

ive thought up some basic rules. if larger scale 1/10, 1/16 etc it must be able to go offroad. if micro 1/18 or smaller mini z, etc, it can be a on road car but it must be able to withstand some jumps. klampy and hairba11, cars only sorry

as long as it looks like a regular rally car and it uses normal size tires then yes

Hey VWM, how about doing a two category build off. You could have the Rally Car, like you are thinking, and have a second category for trucks and desert (DAKAR) style rally.

will large scale be allowed (1/8th, 1/6th)? I've just ordered 2 4x8 sheets of .060 styrene for a rally build I've been wanting to do, and this build off would be perfect!!

This is one of the videos that got me thinking about the Tamiya kit:
has some cool footage of the original '71 Rally car. Anybody run one of these chassis? They seem like a lot of bang for the buck. I know the electronics aren't stellar but... for $200, they're there & you could get this kit going pretty cheap. |
