Default Hairba11 goes vanning

So I just bought someone elses build.
Bam.
Done.
Thanks for stopping by.

But I did not stop there.

First stop was added reinforcements to keep the body joints from splitting.

Next I put in a blazer interior

And then whipped up a couple of solid rod cage bars and welded the steel roof rack to them.

Then ditched the wonky integy spare carrier and put a spare under the rear floor and added a ladder.

Then swapped out the 100mm shocks for 80mm and traded the 103mm tires for 83mm ones.

I was going to point this out to Frizz when I saw it pop up on my fb feed... Now I don't have to worry, "yo Frizz, look at this van man"

The next step was working on lights and winch.
I bent up a piece of aluminum to fit inside the rear body mount. I took a DPDT switch and ground the tip of the toggle flat, then drilled and tapped it M3. A little shorty link connected to a servo gave me the winch controller on ch5

Then I mounted the micro servo Y’d to the throttle in the middle and put snap switches on either side. One runs the reverse lights off the NO position, and the other runs the brake lights off the NC position.

Two remote control switches turn the van running/head lights on and off with ch4 and the off-road lights on and off with ch6

Wow! That's just awesome!

Very few van builds and even fewer in that size. Most are done with the Tamiya Dodge van.

Very cool indeed. Wouldn't be much of a stretch to turn it into the "A Team" van on steroids.

Thanks. I have gotten maybe 20 people wanting me to A-team it, lol.

Took it for a quick drive.

Don't do A-Team. Not every hearse should be an Ecto-1, vans don't have to be Mystery Machines or Ateam...

Rusted out work van with the passenger side cut out, a 'slow children' stop arm, pa speaker on the roof, and the ice cream menu board above the back wheel?

Do some fancy mural thing with a bunch of airbrushed stuff like a space battle with an X-wing shooting at the Dark Side of the Moon prism, fading down to some really wild landscape with like a wizard, bunch of stripey things, some really badass looking animals, some naked chicks...

I like those ideas, also like it as a clean street rig the way you have it now (although I did like the rims it had before you swapped wheels cos they had the old school vibe)

Maybe because it's one of a kind, how about a unicorn mural amongst the pink Floyd neon tripping spacemotsphere... ?

Thanks for the input
I got it running but it’s been too cold to play lately. I’ve had about 30 people saying A team. I’ve thought about grabbing some vinyl and just wrapping the bottom half black for a quick minute just to see.

Van looks pretty good hairball, do you remember this one ? Not many of us, this one is 10 years old, built from Clodbuster bodies.
