![]() ![]() FYI im not going to TRASH the body, ill just make it a beater, dont care about it body. The way the paint layed out and dryed really makes it not worth trying to save, and even if I did it still wouldnt be near as good as it would if I started fresh. With a truck like this, a $25 body schell speaks for itself. But the frustration of now I have to wait and pray theyre instock is the worst part Im thinking Tamiya paint, anyone have any other good paints?

![]() Oven cleaner? How strong is it, would it strip the body filler with it? Ive tried sanding it with 200, and the body lines just arent the same. Break fluid just makes more of a mess then its worth.

![]() I'm not sure about the filler... I have used Easy Off oven cleaner (the one in the yellow can) for a couple old Bruiser bodies (before the Hilux cabs were available) I just sprayed them down in a trash bag and let sit for a few minutes then rinsed. Repeat as necessary and let sit for longer if need be. Didn't damage the plastic at all... but again I'm not sure about the filler. Brake fluid works too but is messy...

![]() +1 break fluid. But B/F is mainly used on tires off rims that are glued.
x1 on easy off. It works very well. But takes time to get layers off. But is one of the best CHEAP ways. I've seen bruiser rebuilds and people take off old paint, and make it look brand new. So I think if you really wanted to redo it well. You will. But everyone and myself love the beater look ![]() |

![]() if you try all that and it dosn't work, i could use the body, i'd rather cut up one that is already messed up, then cut up my orginal clodbuster body... i have 2 OG clod bodys and dont want to cut up eather of them... but one is getting cut up for my 4 door project. I've waited 2 months for tower to get the clod bodys back in stock... it'll take a while... it was late nov... now its late dec... it'll be late jan or feb befor they are in stock.

![]() yes it is messy, but,it will work and not damage the body, get a container big enough to dunk the cab in and let it soak like a half a day, come back with a brush and the paint will literally fall off,ive done several bodies this way and they turned out pretty nice....

![]() Ill give oven cleaner a shot tonight
I did try the brake fluid last night, spend about 35 min all I was left with was a pile of blue rags, but no show of paint off the body Like I said im not going to just trash the body, Ill give it one last attempt at recovery, and if it fails ill camo it up like a military truck and use it as a nice beater. Unfortunitly the way the paint layed out, the taillights are now flush with the body, and all the door and hood lines are filled in so I cant even cut it up and use it for the planned Crew cab ![]() Hope this easy off works, ill get pics regaurdless.

![]() Easy off works well, just don't leave it for too long, do about 30 mins at a time. My bruiser body was painted with what looked like paint you use to decorate your house with it was that thick! I got the paint off mine in two go's, using a toothbrush or a soft nail brush helps speed up the removal.
Spray it on, stick it in a bag, seal it off for 30 mins, take it out and clean it with soapy water. WEAR RUBBER GLOVES AT ALL TIMES!!! This stuff BURNS your skin badly!! Even when you rinse it off, wear then gloves. Latex gloves don't work, get the gloves your missus/mum uses to do the dishes with! |
