Now, just to stir the pot further, take exesivefire's truggy. The steel tube bed is bolted to the aluminum frame. Not a single continuous piece, but legal in my book. My truggy is steel/steel, brazed, therefore a single piece. I don't see why a few bolts should make one illegal and the other not.

Outlawing TVP's (with or without extenders) covers this IMO.

For that matter, a stick chassis extends to the axles, and is a continuous piece.
I think you could get around the tub bed issue if it is intergral to the chassis itself. I.e has the shock mounts...

Yes please, the goal is to have simple concise agreed upon rules. This can get over complicated really fast.

Why not just say "Chassis must resemble a factory OEM chassis, meaning a chassis almost the length of a body. SWB bodies ie Pajero, Wranglers and ETC are allowed use of shorter chassis (L-trail, K2-3s , etc). Trucks are ultimately decided apon by the hosting club as legal or not. So if you question it ask the hosting club ahead of time. No trying to sneak in comp chassis. A dressed up comp chassis is grounds for immediate elimination."

I like that better. Rather than spelling out what's allowed, it gives a guideline that builders can follow as they see fit. Anything that's over the line will be dealt with by the tech guys at the club level.

So lets finalize the wording for the chassis.

I propose:

"Chassis must resemble a 1:1 OEM chassis, composed of frame rails close to the length of the body, but at least extending over the axles. Chassis material is not restricted. Factory plastic tub chassis are allowed. Motor must be mounted on the chassis and drive the wheels through a drive shaft or gears within the chassis.

Trucks are ultimately decided upon by the hosting club as legal or not. So if you question it ask the hosting club ahead of time. No trying to sneak in comp chassis. All comp chassis (TVP, torsion, etc.) will run in the comp class."

Are there any objections to Stu's wording?

I'll wait for a few more "aye's" before checking it off the list and moving on to the rest of the 1.9 regs.

Nick brought up that tube beds would be (technically) disallowed with this wording, although I'm inclined to allow them as long as there is at least one suspension mounting point on the tube, making it a part of the chassis. That, IMO, is a matter for individual discretion by the judges.

However, I'd like to table the chassis issue until all club leaders are able to post here. For the moment sloppy is still locked out (or just can't find the door)

Tube beds, I assume you are talking about truggy style warpigs. Those type of trucks have a clear and apparent advantage over those who build full bodied rigs. Due to their departure angle. I dont have any issues allowing them, but we have to make sure these trucks with tube beds stay within the proportions of a road legal truck. Wheelbase, width and etc. I mean no F350 with a rediculously short bed.
