Wow! That is awesome. I've been quietly following Fractures story here and on RCCrawler.com. I don't know the guy well enough to speculate but hopefully he just decided to start a new life somewhere. I have thoughts all the time about running away someplace where no one knows me and starting over. My family is the only reason why I haven't. I hope this is the case with Fracture. I'd like to think he's drinking a beer on a beach somewhere. Wherever he is at I hope he's safe.

This is still a sad story, and its extremely odd they never found any traces of him or the orange wagon. Usually the car is found quickly

I agree...you think the car would have been found if nothing else. He is after all on an island..how ever big, still hard to get a car off of it.

Hi guys, first time poster.
As my user name suggests-I am in NZ too. I came across this forum reading up on Fracture and that they were NZ based. My investigation brought me to these pages and the sad news that Leo is missing. I've looked into something I found odd and found myself ringing the Nelson Police. (I live in Dunedin, South of Nelson, like WAY south...10 hour drive South). I found that the registration for Leo's car had been placed on hold several months after he had gone missing-even with the year exemption that can be placed, it still didn't explain the 4 or 5 months in between. The police were very grateful for me ringing and taking an interest, but it would seem the family had placed the registration on hold. All good there-I had to ring and scratch the itch, if you get my drift. Anyway, this happened a few days ago and I have been chancing if I'd post this on here, what with no real news to offer.
I have however, just heard on a local radio station, that the reward for information leading to Leo's return has been upped to $50k. There are a few missing persons in NZ each year, but I must admit, and this has has been mentioned previously because the car has not been found, that a lot of folk are talking about this - answers will come of it I'm sure.

Cheers

Glenn

Glenn,
Thanks for the update and pushing this back up to the top. Leo is a great guy that I had the opportunity to deal with in different aspects.

He is an extremely talented kid that has an incredible life in front of him.

I just hope that we can figure out what has happened.

John

just a quick update on this story as it seems NZ isn't going to let this rest at all until the car or leo has been found and it's been 2 years since his dissappearance, So as it's been mentioned before that a 50 k reward has been offered. His story is going national on tv here on a program called crimestoppers.. ( nz version of america's most wanted) article here http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/6294...id-to-find-Leo

Sad news really :-(
But what does this mean?

"Before driving off into the darkness from the flat, Leo told a friend he was going to be at one with nature.

I think it means he wanted peace and quiet, away from everyone, just to survive in the wilderness.

No matter the outcome, I hope his parents can find closure in this somehow. The not knowing has to be terrible for them.

totally shocked to discover this...
hope it turns out he just needed space.
Clearly to produce these ideas at that age shows true genius and,
sometimes people of that ilk need personal space.
Its hard to explain but I get it.
hope that's the case!
As for not finding the car...
there are some real remote places in Kiwiland so if you wanted to be 'not found' you could.

Best wished for family too
