![]() breaking the silence
finally got enough planks stripped ,I should beable to finish planking the hull. building up the stern profile right now. after 4 years its time I get on it. still going to be a very slow build,im in a deep finiancial hole,so im going to do as much as I can with what I have on hand. I don't have the plans for the craig anymore, and I don't quite remember how the rest was built....so ill use the few photos available online, and footskis build as a reference......and some freehand work.she will turn out nicely. im still going to aim for leaving the planks overlapping and showing.she will be resin coated and painted in the end. ![]() ![]()

![]() Old boats moved through the water with little resistance, but couldnt take side seas too well....now we have modern designs that are the opposite.
This is a slow build

![]() It's more of a trend than anything. People want roomy boats now, that means more beam. The wider it is, the more weight you need to keep it from trying to plane. More weight needs more power... The old long slender ships just had their own kind of grace on the water. Even work boats had a dignity that new boats just don't have. Also, draft can be an issue on the slender boats, anything over 6-7' really limits your anchorage options in the Carribean.
