Default [relation] 1:4 Ski Doo MX Z JetLion Project

First of all I want to say you hello. I'm James and I'm from Poland so please understand when I'll make a mistake. When I'm writing this thread in wrong topic I will be happy when mods will transfer it to the wright topic. I'm going to make this RC model by using balsa, carbon and some diffrent things in special parts. It is going to be electric or gas when I will find a cheap engine . This is the Ski Doo frame:

And this is the part which I will do now:

Here are some real machine photos:

I'm going to ask a lot so I hope you'll answer.

I've thought a lot about taking on a project like this, but there are so many parts of the build that are way out of my range of capability that its best left to other to give it a try. I'll be watching this one for sure!

Thanks 'cause I'll need much help. SooN I will cut the frame from the alumium but I'm still waiting for plans. I think that I will use the HPI NITRO STAR PRO 12R XS ENGINE (NORMAL SHAFT/NO PULLSTART). Can you tell me how should I do the body?

Bodies are always the rub: Choices are, hand-formed thin metal, hand-built Styrene, or vacuum-formed Lexan/styrene. None are easy! Chris

Thanks. I bought Dremel 300 on Sunday. Now I want to buy a blowpipe. Now I think I'll make decals like seat or handlebar.

I started a 1:4 scale Yamaha several years ago. Hand built a working replica suspension and track slides, had the boggy's worked in and the drive sprocket to drive the treads from the Blizzard. I got as far as the "tunnel" chassis, and was planning the fab on the ski's when I bought a house, and had to reassemble my work area. Never did finish it, but it was going to be awesome with a Hyper 15 motor(sold it). I was going to do a fiberglass front shell over balsa, then grind away the balsa until it was just a shell. Found the idea on an airplane site. Apparently, it can be done with the high density foam also, and some kind of solvent to dissolve the foam leaving just the shell. I even kept all the fiber glass supplies I researched and was going to use. I also have a 1:4 scale rider from a Kyosho 4-wheeler.

As for plans, I just googled some good pics and enlarged them to use as templates.

Love to see how yours turns out. Newbright makes one of those also...I happen to have one still in the package.

When I was building mine, I was going to use Associated XXXL alum shocks with nitride coated shafts and white springs for the front. I had Duratrax gold alum shocks on my rear suspension, which I still have. Try to use alum shocks, plastic tends to change shape a little in cold weather. Any shocks will work, maybe a set of Maxx shocks would be decent.
