Default Tomb Raider Rubicon - 95% complete -

Ok, I'm in with the Lara Croft Jeep.

I'll be using a New Bright body I've had for some time. Just a gaggle of parts right now.

These are just parts I've collected over time, some new and some not. Trying to use what I have to keep the budget low on this one. At this point, I only need to buy shocks and drive shafts. I'm very excited about this build...I think it will turn out good. Maybe not as good as the other entries, but good for me.

I'll be doing some minor body work for accuracy, SCX10 chassis, Honcho rims, Prowler tires, CC01 axles front and rear - going for a CC01 custom front axle, Disruptor xfer, Axial trans and 45t RC4WD motor, oh and that killer roll bar set up. Custom front and rear bumpers and lights.

Can't wait to get started...only thing is, I don't know what to do first.

I like that Jeep. The roll cage should be interesting if you plan to get that detailed. Looks like your well on your way to geting it done though.

Got my CC01 solid front axle just about finished - just lacking the link and shock mounts. I used CR01 carriers, TLT axles and the standard CC01 hubs. I ground the axles to resemble the hi-lift axles for more steering clearance. I also ground the hubs a little on the arms and the opposite edge to clear for steering. Smoothed the edges of the uprights on the carriers for a little more scale look, although, you won't see much of the axles anyway with skid plates in place. I used flanged 5x11mm bearings in the carriers with some shim washers between the bearing and the ends of the axle housing. Keeps everything nice and snug. Over all length is the same as the rear. I'm very suprised how well it turned out. I might try this again later with my Bronco. Here's a few pics.

Yup, Angie's on the way. I got a good deal from ebay for 2. I hope they are the right size. I'll know when I get 'em.

I would just go to toys then action figuers then i usually just scroll threw them, unless i'm looking for something specific. you just gotta keep in mind the scale you want and how tall that fig needs to be.

That's what I was going to say. Also you get a little more specific with 7" added in, but you may not see some that haven't listed as 7".

Finally made some progress. Finished building the axles(less the link mounts), and stripped the outer rings of the axial BL only to find that they wouldn't clear the CC01 hubs/uprights. So I used a set of the Integy's instead. I think they look better anyway. They are at the end of the pics.

Spent 2 days off and on sanding the paint off...this stuff just would not budge with the stripping chemicals I used. Started the 1/2 doors, once the sanding was done.

Once the caps were done, I moved to the floor and did the console "reconfig", and added the diamond plate to the rear. I wasn't able to find any pics of the rear floor, but the other pics I came across showed it without a rear seat and no spare, so that's how I'm building it.

I framed up the inside of the doors for the new "skins" and made the outer door handles. The inners will be done when I finish the inner door skins.

Last thing I did tonight was to add the new diamond plate rocker panels.

Then I just had to do a mock-up

Just love the way the fit in the wheel wells

That's it for now.

Looking really good so far! Any idea on what you'll be using for the lights on the lightbar?

The axle really turned out well. I started with this idea about a year ago when I was going to make my version of a CC02 that I think Tamiya should make. But that just went by the wayside. I also widened a front Trex60 for my 1/6 Jeep.

Been scratching my head on that one...surely it will have to be scratched. Got a few ideas, so when I get to it, I'll throw some parts on the table and see what comes out it.

Uh, sand? Not a whole lot of that up here, this time of year, except what the snow plows throw down. I'll have to hit our beach in the spring, and see if I can make a video.

Thanks for all your comments...stay tuned. More to come this weekend. Maybe it'll be a roller.
